Hi I'm Kevin Edwards

I live in West Linn, Oregon. I am an endodontist and father of three boys and one girl. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a graduate of Brigham Young University and completed my graduate training in endodontics (root canals) at the University of Pennsylvania. My family moved to Oregon 13 years ago. I am a husband of almost twenty years and a father of four children. I enjoy playing golf, snow skiing, going to Blazers games, and cheering for my kids at lacrosse games and cheerleading competitions.

Why I am a Mormon

Like many who have joined the church my story begins with a faithful latter day saint who had the courage to share their testimony and love for the gospel with me. When I was 18 years old, I met a girl, Tara, who just so happened to be a mormon. We became good friends and then went our separate ways after high school. I moved to Seattle to attend the University of Washington and she moved to Idaho to attend Rick's College. We continued to keep in touch and even though we were far apart our relationship grew. Through her example I was exposed to the gospel. After a couple of years at UW I decided I would transfer to Gonzaga University. I was looking for a change in my life, I just wasn't exactly what that change needed to be. While at home I spent a considerable amount of time with this girl's family. I enjoyed mountain biking and skiing with them even though Tara was away at school. One day an unexpected package arrived in the mail. I was surprised to find a Book of Mormon inside and even more surprised when I opened the book. Tara had sent the package, and had written her own testimony inside the front cover. As I read her testimony I was overwhelmed and felt strongly I needed to read this book. I still remember the day when I sat on my bed and began reading the story of Nephi. The spirit was foreign to me but undeniable. I ended up calling Tara's father to ask questions and he put me in contact with the missionaries. I proceeded to take the missionary discussions and joined the church in April of 1992. Tara had no idea I was learning about the gospel or that I was to be baptized by her father. After joining the church I decided to attend BYU. A few of years after I joined the church Tara and I were married in the Portland Temple. Throughout the years my testimony has grown. I have been blessed to be a member of Christ's church and to feel the joy that comes from being a latter day saint.

How I live my faith

I am currently the president of our ward's young men organization. My calling gives me the opportunity to teach and interact with the young men between the ages of 12 and 18. Over the past few years I have been able to go to scout camps, participate in several camping trips, attend the temple with the youth and share many fun and spiritual experiences with them. I also teach the 16-18 year olds on Sundays. I feel very privileged to share some of my life experience and my testimony each week. I am truly blessed and inspired as I get to see the young men mature and gain their own testimonies of the gospel.
