Hi I'm Hillary

I'm a Missionary. I'm a Registered Nurse. I'm an Aunt. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the middle daughter of 3 girls. My sisters and I are close to polar opposites of each other; but, we are each other's best friend. We grew up doing almost everything outside. I still love doing several activities outside! We were also a sporty group. I started my college career on a softball scholarship to play at a Junior College in a different state than where I was born. When I learned that that is not what Heavenly Father had in store for me, I moved back to Texas and determined that I wanted to go to Nursing school. I am now a Registered Nurse with a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing!

Why I am a Mormon

The South is notorious for its diversity in Christian faiths. I was exposed to several different faiths throughout my childhood. When I was 10 years old I attended a summer church camp with my friend of another faith. One night I felt the need to show her youth minister the 'Articles of Faith', which is a brief summary of what I believed. After a night and the next day of bashing my faith to me, my feelings were hurt and my heart was broken. Was everything that I thought I believed true? I turned to my scriptures and I sincerely prayed to know if what I was reading, what I was learning at church about the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ was in fact true. The feeling I had overcome me was indescribable. It was a feeling of overwhelming peace, a great feeling of surety, a feeling of so much joy that it made my heart feel full. Ever since then, when feelings of doubt or uncertainty may arise, I think back to that time as an adolescent and remember those exact feelings that overcame me and the love that I felt from my Heavenly Father and the doubt and uncertainty fade. I know that our Heavenly Father lives and knows each of us individually and LOVES us unconditionally. I know that he sent his son, Jesus Christ, to atone for our sins so that we all may return to live in Heaven with Him again. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and that if it weren't for his sincere desire to know which church to join and his great faith in Heavenly Father, the Restoration of Christ's church on the Earth would not have come about. I know the Book of Mormon to be the word of God, as well as the Bible. I also know Thomas S. Monson to be the Prophet of God on Earth today. I know these things to be true by the same being that gave me that overwhelming peace one day at a church camp; the Holy Spirit. I am a Mormon because I have never felt more sure of something in my life. I hope that one day you, too, may come to know that these things are true!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being an active example. I feel that sometimes one can talk until they are blue-in-the-face about something they believe, but all credibility is lost until one can show by both word AND deed. In the past, I have volunteered with my local Hospice agency, taught the Nursery aged children of my church, lead the youth of my church, and coordinated events for the Young Single Adult group. I live my faith, now, by serving an 18 month mission in the IDAHO POCATELLO MISSION!!
