Hi I'm Jared

I am a Business student. I live in Brisbane, Australia. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have a mixed genealogical background including Australian Aboriginal, Polish, English, and Tahitian ancestry. I am a very happy husband, and father of one young, energetic, son. My wife, who is my eternal companion and my best friend is from Tahiti. I am a university student studying Business. In my current employment I work with Indigenous people, which draws me closer to my own heritage. My responsibility in our local congregation is in missionary work. I feel that my employment and my Church service are closely aligned by way of outcomes and helping individuals, and I can see parallels with my experiences as a missionary in French Canada.

Why I am a Mormon

In my late teens I had to make a choice whether to search for answers through prayer and faith, or follow the direction of many of my school colleagues into dangerous paths. Something seemed to guide me to choose the gospel of Jesus Christ. I had previously read the Book of Mormon as a challenge from youth leaders, but now I wanted to read it for myself. As I read the words in this powerful and sacred book of scripture, I felt the peaceful influence of the Holy Ghost bear witness to the innermost depths of my soul that this book was true. I know that the Book of Mormon teaches about Jesus Christ. It teaches that He is the Redeemer of all mankind. And it teaches that only by faith, repentance, and obedience, can we receive the blessing of returning to His presence. Now, more than ten years later, I continue to build my life upon the testimony I gained in my teens. I am still imperfect, and my own failings, shortcomings and weaknesses cause me to often ponder upon the Atonement of Jesus Christ. I have learned that I cannot live without the Savior. And for this reason I continue to seek guidance in life through the influence of the Holy Ghost.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by praying earnestly to my Heavenly Father, and reading from the Book of Mormon on a daily basis. I try to be conscientious of the companionship and guiding influence of the Holy Ghost. I do my best in developing Christlike attributes and setting a good example for others. On Sundays I live my faith by not watching TV or movies, and by listening to music of faith rather than mainstream songs. I also attend church meetings, and often have the opportunity to teach a class in Sunday School. When in this setting I frequently share personal experiences as well as my testimony of Jesus Christ.
