Hi I'm Sydney

I'm an East Coaster in the West. I'm a college student on hold to serve a mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm second of 5 sisters. I love basketball though I'm not very good at playing it. I ran track and cross country in high school. I attend BYU and I love it. My major is undecided for now, but I want to go into the medical field. I love going on outdoor adventures or just staying in for a good movie.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the church. I always believed my parents taught me and what I learned at church, but at a certain point, you have to figure out the truth for yourself. When I was freshman in high school I read the Book of Mormon on my own for the first time. I made goals for when I wanted to finish it and how many chapters I needed to read each day to reach my goal. It was hard to do, but by the time I finished I knew two things: the Book of Mormon is true and I can do hard things. If the Book of Mormon is true, then modern day revelation is possible. If modern revelation is possible, then the words of the prophet today are true. If his words are true, then I need to abide by them, even if they are hard. As I obey the words of the prophet and follow the Spirit, I find further strength and truth. The words of God prove themselves when you do what is asked and go forward in faith.

How I live my faith

I love staying connected with my peers in the church. By staying with a group of good friends, we supported each other socially but more importantly, spiritually.During high school I stayed involved in the youth program and attended as many of the youth activities as I could including dances, variety shows, basketball, and a lot more. In college my group of friends supports the standards of the church and help each other to keep them, such as keeping the Sabbath day holy and wearing modest clothes.
