Hi I'm Tia Thomas

I was born in Layton, Utah, where I was adopted. I grew up in the church, and am currently serving a mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm serving a mission in Merida, Mexico, for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I also studied at Brigham Young University, where I was working on a bachelor's degree in Psychology, with minors in Arabic and Microbiology. In addition, I'm considering going to medical school in 18 months.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the church. However, even if that wasn't the case, I still believe I would be a member of the Church. I have received a witness that this gospel is true, so many times that I couldn't even begin to number them. While life can be difficult sometimes, I know that by staying true to the gospel, I can make it through the hard times, and eventually return to live with God. This hope keeps me strong, even when I may be tempted to distance myself from the church.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying my best to be an example of Jesus Christ. I keep the standards that have been revealed to the leaders of the Church. I serve in my ward in whatever calling I may be assigned to, and try to do my best to serve others. As a missionary, I also have the opportunity to invite others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the Gospel -- in fact, this is my purpose as a missionary (Preach My Gospel). I do my best to live this purpose every day, and hope that it has blessed the lives of those I've come in contact with.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Tia Thomas
For me, the atonement is my favorite part of the Gospel. I'm so grateful that Christ sacrificed his life for us, so that we can return to live with God again. I know that without it, i wouldn't be able to repent, and come back into God's presence. I've seen the atonement work in my life, and consider it to be the greatest blessing I've received.
