Hi I'm Sharon Parker

I come from a big family. I love music. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the 6th of 10 children in my family so growing up our home was always loud. I was a large contributor to the noise. I loved music so I would play my music loud, I would sing loud, play the piano and violin loud. I know I drove my dad crazy and I could partially be the reason for his near deafness (not really he is just hard of hearing), but because he put up with it I was able to gain a great love for music. Throughout high school I participated in choirs, orchestras, music theory and music technology classes. I loved all of them. I recently attended my first year of college at BYU Provo. First off BYU is a great place! If you are thinking about going there, go! I'm still unsure of what I want to major in exactly but I know music will continue to be a huge part of my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the church. I was baptized at eight but at that time my full conversion hadn't happened yet. There were many instances after where I received different confirmations of truth through the spirit. I learned that I had a loving Heavenly Father and I learned that my Savior was God's son Jesus Christ and he had the power to heal and cleanse whatever the wound may be. I knew for sure those two things when I entered seminary (a scripture study class) my freshmen year of High school. We were studying the Book of Mormon that year and it would be my first time reading the Book of Mormon on my own. I wanted to read it and find out if it was true. I remember one night in particular I was praying real earnestly to know if it was true. I opened my Book of Mormon and read 2 Nephi ch 33. The whole chapter is great but two verses really hit home for me . Verse 10 and 11 say "10: And now, my beloved brethren, and also Jew, and all ye ends of the earth, hearken unto these words and believe in Christ; and if ye believe not in these words believe in Christ. And if ye shall believe in Christ ye will believe in these words, for they are the words of Christ, and he hath given them unto me; and they teach all men that they should do good. 11: And if they are not the words of Christ, judge ye—for Christ will show unto you, with power and great glory, that they are his words, at the last day; and you and I shall stand face to face before his bar; and ye shall know that I have been commanded of him to write these things, notwithstanding my weakness." I knew that Jesus Christ was my Savior and at that moment the Spirit taught me that this is Christ's Church and that the Book of Mormon truly testifies of him. I look forward to the day when I can see him face to face, but I don't have to to know that He lives.

How I live my faith

I'll start by saying I'm no where near perfect, but I try to follow Jesus Christ. I seek to do the small things like reading scriptures and saying prayers. Even though theses are small tasks they can have tremendous consequences. Calling wise I haven't had very many but a person's worth is not determined by how many or how high their callings were. As I said before I love music. All of my callings have had to do with music. I have been called as the organist, the choir accompanist, and the music co-chair. I loved those callings but I'm happy to go serve where the Lord wants me to serve.
