Hi I'm Jen Nilsen

I love the mountains. I like to travel. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

As a kid my family moved a lot. Ranging from South Africa, to California, Utah, and Ohio. When in Utah I enjoy spending time at my family's cattle ranch and riding our horses. I also enjoy traveling! I recently volunteered at a sports camp in Nazareth, Israel, for two weeks, where I was in charge of the sports section, as well as teaching english. I am currently a student at Brigham Young University in Utah.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up attending the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and was baptized at age 8. It wasn't until I was about 16 that I really gained a testimony of my own. This was the summer I had the opportunity to visit Israel with a group of volunteers, as well as travel to Palmyra, NY with the youth in my area. I went to Nazareth, Bethlehem, and Jerusalem while I was in Israel. It was such an amazing experience to walk in the same steps that Jesus Christ had walked many years ago. I really felt the Holy Ghost while I was traveling in the holy land. Then a few weeks later I was in the Sacred Grove, where Joseph Smith saw God, the Father, and his son, Jesus Christ. It was such an experience to see those two different sacred grounds in a close time period. I really gained my testimony of Jesus Christ that summer and that he is always there for me, and that he lives. I visited the site where Jesus was buried and it was so special to me to be there. I know that he died for my sins, and I know he lives now and is there for me every day, as my brother and friend.

How I live my faith

I have always been very active in my faith. I have always loved going to church with my family every Sunday, no matter what part of the world we are in. In my high school I had to stand up for my faith and my beliefs because many people tried to put them down. I attended a church class for the youth before high school every morning, and it started at 6:05. That took a lot of effort and dedication to attend each morning before school started. Now that I am at college I have the opportunity to be a teacher for others. For the past 9 months I have been a teacher to the women my age and teach them lessons in church once a month, rotating with two other girls in my congregation.
