Hi I'm Emma

I've been called to the Brazil Sao Paulo North Mission!

About Me

I'm excited to be serving in the mission field in a few short months. I'm from Riverton, Utah and I'm a college freshman studying acoustic engineering. I enjoy the outdoors and love surfing, musical theater, and cooking. I've taught dance for many years, my favorite style being hip-hop. I play the piano, violin, mandolin, ukulele, and guitar.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I know this gospel It's true! I was born into the church but that doesn't mean I believed everything right off the bat. I had many doubts and questions in my early teen years. There have been many times where as I've pondered these questions, I'd go in faith to the scriptures, and kneel humbly in prayer. Even in my doubt an answer has always come. Now that I have gained a sure testimony of the reality of this message, I still have questions, but every time I sincerely seek an answer It comes. It doesn't always come as quickly as I hope, but it always comes. I know with my whole heart that Father in Heaven is real and Jesus Christ is His beloved son. I know they love us and want us to be happy. I know our Father in Heaven hears our prayers and will answer them in His own time if we ask with an open mind and sincere heart. He knows us and He has a distinct plan for each of our lives. If we chose to follow His will for us, we will be led to more happiness than we ever thought possible. I know Jesus Christ gave His life on the cross so we can have a chance to repent of our sins and return to live with our Father in Heaven again. I know He and The Father appeared to Joseph Smith and instructed him to restore truth to the Earth. I know Joseph Smith was called of God to translate the Book of Mormon for our benefit. The Book of Mormon is my favorite book ever, and I learn something new every time I read it. I feel blessed to have found the truth at such a young age. I'm a Mormon because I've felt the spirit testify to me personally of the truth of this gospel and of my worth as a child of God. I know you too can feel of this love and peace if you humbly take your questions to God and ask in faith.

How I live my faith

Serving as a missionary for the LDS church allows me to be share what I love most with others! I love the message of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ and it has been a great source of peace in my life. Missionary service is voluntary. We are not paid, in fact, we are paying to support ourselves on our missions. As Sister Missionaries we give a year and a half of our young adult lives to serve the Lord. It's a wonderful sacrifice I'm happy to make. I chose to serve a mission because of how the gospel has influenced my family. Missionaries visited my great grandparents many years ago and because of the influence of their message my family has received countless blessings and immense amounts of joy. I want to share that same joy with others!

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Emma
When you invite missionaries into your home you can expect kindness and respect. Remember, they are here on their own time and their own money. No one is paying them to do this, they are doing it out of love. Their desire is to share with you a message about Jesus Christ. Each time they visit your home they will have something new to share, but all messages will relate back to Christ. The will answer questions such as, "Why are we here?", "What is the purpose of being on Earth?", "Where do we go when we die?", and so on. They will talk about the importance of families and how families can be together for eternity. They will talk about why there was a need to the restoration of gospel truth to the Earth and how it came about. They will share with you The Book of Mormon, Another Testament of Jesus Christ, and they will be happy to answer any questions you have. Show more Show less

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Emma
Look around you! I believe God always has His hand in our lives even though we might not always recognize it. This beautiful Earth we live on is a testament that there is a God. In His kingdom everything is done in order. If you've ever taken a science class I'm sure you've learned how complex the world around us is. Everything exists in order and with purpose. To me it is impossible to look at miracles such as a single functioning cell, or the physics behind light waves and deny the presence of a higher being. I think his hand is also in our personal dealings everyday. There have been times when I've seen Him work simple miracles in my life by prompting a friend to say precisely what I needed to hear, or by granting me added energy so I can accomplish all that I need to do. If you're questioning if there is a God, that's ok. It's important that when you have doubts like these you look to the right source for answers. I challenge you to take a step back and examine what miracles God is performing in your everyday life. If you're struggling to see these miracles, pray to have your eyes opened. Pray to feel of His love, and for confirmation that He's there. I promise if you have a sincere desire to know, and you ask in faith, then an answer will come. You will feel of the joy and love that comes from knowing for yourself that there is an Almighty God, you are His child, and He loves you. Show more Show less
