Hi I'm Michael

I grew up in the desert of Southern California. I want to become a criminal prosecutor and I love learning foreign languages.

About Me

I grew up in the Coachella Valley in the desert of Southern California, so I prefer warmer weather to colder weather. In high school I was on my school's mock trial team for 4 years, and during that I realized that I love law and find the legal system to be quite fascinating, so right now my plan is to go to law school in order to be a criminal prosecutor. I went to Brigham Young University for a year where I studied political science. I love playing tennis and golf, and I enjoy reading as well. I love music, and at any time I'm either thinking of a song in my head, humming under my breath, or singing out loud. Learning foreign languages has become a hobby for me recently. I studied French throughout high school and right now I am learning Mandarin Chinese as a missionary in New York City. I love learning foreign languages because it helps me to communicate with more people in the world so I can learn more about other cultures. I plan on minorig in both Mandarin and French when I go back to BYU.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the church and went to church every week while I was growing up. The gospel always sounded like something that would be really nice if it were true, but I didn't know that the gospel was true. I did everything that was expected of me, such as go to church classes and participate in activities, but for the most part I did all of that to a bare minimum. I was more focused on obtaining accomplishments that I thought at that time would make me happy. One of two things would result from trying to reach these accomplishments: I would fail to achieve it and I would be miserable and discouraged, or I would be successful and still not be satisfied. Eventually, I was miserable all the time. I realized that the direction I was taking in life wasn't going to make me happy, and I knew that I needed to make a change. I prayed to Heavenly Father (much more sincerely than I had been praying before) and asked Him to help me find lasting happiness. Since then, I have found so much happiness by applying the Gospel of Jesus Christ in my life. Heavenly Father has given me so many opportunities in my life, and He has helped me through many trials where I would have quit if I had not had His help. I'm a Mormon because I know that I have a Father in Heaven who cares about me deeply, and He has prepared a plan for me to help me succeed in this life. I know that Heavenly Father answers prayers, and He still guides His children today. I know that this gospel will bring me lasting, perfect, happiness like nothing else can.

How I live my faith

Everyday I try my best to follow the perfect example of our Savior, Jesus Christ, and apply the teachings of the scriptures in my life. I try to be as forgiving as possible because I remember all of the times in my life where Heavenly Father has forgiven me and that everyone in this life has their own challenges that they are trying to overcome. I love doing service for others, especially when I see how happy it makes them. I go to church every week because it's an opportunity to strengthen my testimony and hear the testimonies of other people.
