Hi I'm Mitch

I enjoy playing basketball and rugby. I love science fiction. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I'm Mitch! I'm 22 and I'm serving a mission in Rome, Italy. I was born in Los Angeles and grew up in Springville, Utah. I played rugby and basketball in highschool and I have a passion for boxing. I love to read, especially science fiction. I like to play guitar and listen to music to relax. I prefer punk rock and metal but I also like acoustic sounds, like folk rock. I'm the oldest in my family of three. I have a 20 year old sister and an 18 year old brother. Our parents divorced when we were very young, I was five. Despite our trials we've grown close and my parents are two of my best friends in the world. They've taught me any valuable lessons and have done an incredible job of loving us kids.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because my Heavenly Father kind of forced it on me. Before I joined this church I was a militant atheist. I was very against religion and couldn't understand people who were led by faith. I studied a handful of religions casually, with the intent of arguing more than anything else, when God started working on me. He led me to a book called The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis that made me start thinking about my life through different eyes. I realized that there was something mentally blocking me from praying or reading the scriptures. I began reading the Book of Mormon and I started praying out of curiosity. Over time I came to know that what I was reading was true and God start answering my prayers with a louder and louder voice. My dad and my siblings are still atheist but they support my decision to serve a mission. The Lord has blessed my family so much for my decision to give two years to him. I'm so grateful that God guided me to his church!

How I live my faith

Right now I'm a minister of the church in Italy. I find and teach people who are interested in learning the basic teachings of the LDS church. My purpose as a missionary is to invite others to come into Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel. I love sharing the skills I've learned in this church with others. The things I've learned have made my life much easier and have given me a purpose I didn't know I was missing. I love sharing that with the Italian people. Before I moved to Italy I worked with a group of teenage boys. We met every in church every Sunday to study the gospel together and I often taught the church lesson. Once a week we'd meet to learn something new and have fun together. We'd work on Boy Scouts and doing service activities. My favorite thing to do was take the guys to play laser tag.
