Hi I'm Cal

I grew up in Southern California. I enjoy nature, and love to fish.

About Me

I grew up in So Cal, Served a mission in Alberta, Canada, Married a Return Missionary Sheila, Fathered 5 Children, Live in So Cal, love to Climb, Hike, Camp, Fish, Cook etc.

Why I am a Mormon

The Apostles asked The Lord how they would learn and lead the church after he was to leave them. He told them to follow the spirit and they would be taught all things. I believe that the holy spirit guides the leadership of this church, and that they truly look for the guidance of the spirit in all decisions and gospel matters. I feel peace whenever I am involved in the church and whenever I serve others.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith daily. There really is no other way for me. I am no good at changing my behavior for different situations and different people. What eventually happens is that I get "comfortable" and wind up behaving inappropriately in the wrong place. Then I get to where I can't be "comfortable" around other people for fear of them learning how I behave in other places. So I try to behave the same way all the time, to everybody. When I make a mistake or develop a new poor habit, I apologize and fix what I can upon recognition, and then I move on. We have all been asked to to let go of the natural man and become like Jesus. I'm working at it daily one piece at a time. I think that is how he would have me behave, and that is how I live my faith.

Why is self-reliance important to Mormons? Why do Mormons talk about emergency preparedness?

Cal
Just like the feeling of graduating, or paying off a specific debt, the feeling of being prepared for future disasters is very liberating. I don't mean just an earthquake, or other natural disaster. I'm talking about job loss, injury, accident, etc... Really, when you consider how long it takes to get assistance from any physical entity, it just makes sense to get yourself prepared to take care of yourself and your family for short term and long term disasters. God helps those who help themselves. Show more Show less
