Hi I'm Herb

I was born in Guatemala, raised in Miami Florida. Changed my life and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I was raised in Miami, Florida. In a Latin rooted neighborhood just outside of downtown. Grew up seemingly lacking opportunities, but extremely blessed and somehow unaware of it. I left Florida shortly after high school seeking opportunities. Once in Utah I landed on my feet. Away from everyone I knew and the life I was accustomed to, I saw a great change; yet refused to live by faith. I love to travel and have been able to see many parts of the world. I finally opened my heart and mind to the gospel and was converted in 2009. I met my beautiful wife and was sealed in a Temple of the Lord for Life and All Eternity. I am a husband, father, entrepreneur but most importantly a disciple of Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

In 2009 after attending Church meeting for a few months, (after avoiding the Church for almost 10 years) an uncle of mine passed away. My parents, brothers and I drove to California for his services. Although I knew that my father was at peace with his brothers death, he seemed worried and nervous. We spoke about why he was at ease with his death and yet anxious about our destination. He spoke to me about a gospel ordinance that he hoped to carry out yet felt as if thought he wouldn't be allowed to do so. (none of our other family members are members). Days later at the burial he was allowed to bless his brothers tomb. At that moment, I had The Holy Ghost testified to me that the Gospel was true and that specific Ordinance performed by a worthy Priesthood holder was necessary. I was baptized shortly after that. I can now proudly announce that I have repented of my ways and am a worthy priesthood holder as well. I am a Mormon because i can bless the life of others as well. Because now I can share truth and happiness with others...

How I live my faith

I am a mortal son of a Heavenly Father. This makes me flawed and imperfect. I have struggles and challenges that i deal with daily. However I know and understand that I am loved by my Father and he blesses me. The Gospel has allowed me to gain a testimony of my Savior and Redeemer Jesus Christ and His atonement. This teaches me forgiveness, love, patience and charity. This makes me want to serve and love others as He has served and loved me. It helps me see others as Children of the same Loving Father and although they make mistakes as well. I love to serve in and outside of my home.

Why are Mormons asked to donate 10% of their income to their Church?

Tithing is an ancient law, found in the bible. I pay my tithing with faith and gratitude for all that the lord has blessed me with. This way i can help the growth of God's Kingdom here on earth. I have a testimony that God does pour blessings upon those who obey this law. Show more Show less
