Hi I'm Mary Schmuhl

Books and sports are my favorite. I love playing board games, and spending time with my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I spend most of my time around my family. I am attending college and working towards a bachelors degree. I enjoy the outdoors and the sunshine, especially at my job where I worked with preschool children. I tend to always relate life to exercise or sports. Especially to soccer that I've loved and played since I was younger. I could be perfectly happy spending my day doing nothing but reading books, doing sports, and playing board games with my family and friends while listening to country music.

Why I am a Mormon

Living the standards of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints makes me happy! It brings purpose in my life. I believe in a loving Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ. But, I had to gain that testimony for myself. I grew up in the church, but it wasn't until I was in high school when I learned and knew it truly for myself. It came through reading the Book of Mormon. Since then, I have had many times in my life where burdens have been lifted, and strength has been gained. But even then, no life is perfect. But it is through trials and living the gospel that I have gained a closer relationship with my Heavenly Father and those who I love. We all need help and someone to understand in this life. The power of prayer and knowing that Christ knows exactly what joys or sorrows we are having makes life easier and better. The knowledge of the gospel and that we can have eternal families and live with our Heavenly Father again makes doing my best in life worth it. I know that if anyone really wants to know for themselves if The Book of Mormon or any principle of the gospel can change their life, they simply have to try it.

How I live my faith

I am preparing to be a full-time missionary in the Canada Montreal Mission, where Ill be speaking the French language. In my home ward I had the opportunity to teach 12 year-old's about the gospel on Sundays. I also was able to be a visiting teacher to some sisters in my neighborhood. I live my faith in the decisions that I make each day, regardless of where I am or who I am with. I try my best to set a good example of high standards to those I attend school, or work with. I've been surrounded by people who have set a really good example to me of service and love. I have found that the more work I put into trying to help and love others, the happier I am. My desire to serve also increases, and I understand the love Heavenly Father has for all of us better. Living and understanding faith is something I am constantly learning, re-learning, and striving to be better at.
