Hi I'm Elder Eric Allred

I'm a writer, an artist, and a missionary in the Lord's service. I have grown to love and serve Christ. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I think the best way to describe myself is as a patron of the arts. I love everything artistic, with any sort of merit or thought put into it at all. From movies to animation to art to literature, to even something as intricate and complicated and math. It all fascinates me just in how we as human beings see and interpret the world around us. There is so much beauty that can be found here, and I love to see how others capture it in art. That love has really impacted my life. I'm a writer, and I hope to make a career out of the stories that lie in wait in my mind. My wonder for art and literature has also driven me to teach others, and instill that same wonder in others as a teacher. I've completed some schooling to be a high school teacher before I was called to serve a mission for the lord. That wonder has caused me many problems, in my search for beauty it has led me to struggle with many things. Overcoming temptation and sin is hard, and at times it has jeopardized my ability to serve. I am so very thankful for the gospel, though, and for the wonderful teachings within the scriptures and the prophets. I am currently serving as a missionary in Guadalajara, and I hope to serve the lord there to my fullest.

Why I am a Mormon

Family, for me, is the most important reason why I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ. As Mormons, we profess that we have the opportunity to be with our families forever, for eternity. That is one of the most powerful and wonderful things that I have ever felt in this world. I could not imagine a life without my mother and father, without my brothers, or without my future wife and children. There is no way that I could ever deny the pure love found within the Gospel, and I will always strive to serve the Lord in all things.

How I live my faith

I constantly search for the right ways to live my life, to not only serve the Lord in all things, but to understand for myself the teachings of the gospel and how I can use them in my own life, in whatever form that it takes. The biggest thing in my life has been in my opportunities to go out with the missionaries and teach as a member of the church. Seeing the gospel light up the lives of so many is inspiring, and it has only served to strengthen my faith in Christ and his teachings. The spirit with the missionaries is palpable and strong, and it is something that I hope one day to have in my own life.

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Elder Eric Allred
Absolutely. We hold the Bible as an equal scripture to all the other testimonies of holy prophets that we have. The Bible is the word of God, so what right do we have to hold it in any less importance as the Book of Mormon, if the words are in fact true. And I testify that they are. Show more Show less
