Hi I'm Katie Steele

I'm an elementary school teacher, a model rocketeer, a world traveler, a missionary, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Katie, and I'm a Mormon. I grew up in Arizona and moved to Utah only a few years ago. My family is the most important thing in my life. I've been involved with model rocketry since I was about 11. It's been such a big part of my life, because we traveled across the United States and even to Europe for competitions. I'm a three-time national champion, and I've been on the competing and managing side of the United States World Space Modeling team. I love to travel. It's a passion of mine that model rocketry has provided opportunities to fulfill. I've had the privilege of traveling to nine different countries, including Serbia, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Hungary, Mexico, France, Germany, the Netherlands, and Austria. I recently graduated from Southern Utah University, with a degree in Elementary Education and a degree in Special Education, and I plan on going to grad school to earn a Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Some people are blessed to be able to know their calling early on in their life, and I was definitely one of those people. Other than archaeology, working with children is something I have always wanted to do.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because it gives me joy and peace in a world of trials and suffering. Being a member of this church gives me more comfort and more hope than any other aspect of this world. Families are forever! My dream is to one day be sealed to my sweet future husband in the temple, to see my family sealed in the temple for time and all eternity. I will get to be with them for the rest of my life, and beyond this life as well. Knowing this makes my life so much easier, because I know that they love I have for these people is an eternal love. I know that Christ suffered on the cross not only for our sins, but for our heartaches, for our suffering, for griefs and pains. Because of this, we will never have to be alone. We will never have to endure anything alone, because the perfect Christ suffered all things for this purpose. I am blessed to have such a strong testimony, and I can honestly say I have never doubted the truth of the Church, of the Book of Mormon, nor the divinity of Christ. It is true, and the gospel has a message and truth that will bless the lives of everyone on this earth.

How I live my faith

I live my faith every day of my life- in who I am, in what I do, and what I think. I love to do family history, and find joy in finding my ancestor's names and providing the necessary work for them. I live my faith by doing the ordinances for my deceased family, including my sweet step-grandmother and great-grandparents who immigrated from Poland. I am currently serving as a missionary for the Church, and I know I will find so much joy in this! I was blessed to grow up in the LDS Church, though I often attended Catholic Mass to spend time with my father. This, along with other trials in my life, have blessed me with understanding and empathy towards others. This understanding has allowed me to be a missionary in my daily life, through work, through friends, and through everything that I do. I hope, as a formal missionary, that I can inspire and influence my family for good.
