Hi I'm Alex

I was born in Virginia, grew up in Maryland. I'm on a mission now in Campinas Brazil. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in the Mormon church. But I didn't realize that is was true until after my Freshmen year in High School. I love everything Si-fi, I love my x-box, my family, my friends, and my Heavenly Father. I volunteered to go on a mission and was called to go to Brazil. But I haven't received my Visa so I've been temporarily re-assigned to Arkansas until I get my Visa. After my mission I want to study Civil Engineering and make that my future career.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Mormon church but I never knew it was true till after my Freshmen year in High School. All of my life everyone told me that they could feel Heavenly Father's spirit when they would read from the Scriptures or go to church. But for some reason, that I didn't know why, I could never feel this Spirit, this comfort, this love everyone was talking about. I thought: "Why can't I ever feel it? What's so special about everybody else?" Since I couldn't feel it I figured they were all lying to me. So I stopped listening to them. I started doing what I wanted and not what God had commanded me to do. This continued until my Mom had me go to a Mormon summer camp called EFY meaning Especially for Youth. This camp was a week long. All the week long I could start to feel something when people would speak to us and teach us. I figured it was nothing and just ignored it. Until Thursday night when we had a Testimony meeting(a meeting where people share what they know). As the people I had become friends with stood up and gave their testimony, I felt something. It was like a warm feeling inside of me. It felt peaceful and full of love. For some reason I began to cry. After the meeting when I was in the room I was staying at, one of my friends came in and privately gave his testimony to me. At that moment the feeling was overwhelming. I could no longer control myself, I started to cry. I felt such an over powering feeling of love that I could barely speak. At that moment I felt the feeling I had longed for my entire life. At that moment I realized that everything everyone had told me was true. It was all true. I then got down on my knees and promised my Heavenly Father that I would do everything in my power to serve him and love him. To this day I have done my best to live up to that promise.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by following the Savior's example. In every situation I do as He would do or at least I do my best. I left my family, my friends, and my life to go on a mission for two years to share with the world the beautiful message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I strive everyday to bring people closer to their Savior and help them come to a knowledge of his great love for all of us.

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

Alex
When Christ was on the Earth he called Apostles(John 15:16). He gave them the Authority to Baptize and preach His Gospel(Matthew 16:19). After Christ died, the Apostles ran the Church by receiving revelation from Jesus Christ. Shortly after wicked men killed the Apostles. At that point, everyone that held that Authority given by Jesus Christ were dead. So no one on earth had the Authority to Baptize and Preach the Gospel. This was called the Apostasy. The Apostasy was prophesied about by an Old Testament Prophet(Amos 8:11-12). Many good people wanted to follow Jesus Christ and did their best to follow His teachings. But over time His teachings were corrupted by evil men and the ways of Baptism were changed. This was the reason for the start of so many different denominations(Baptist, Methodist, Lutheran, Catholic, etc.) Each one with slightly different beliefs. Because God is our loving Heavenly Father He would not let His children go without his full truth. So in 1820, like He had done all throughout history, God called another Prophet to Restore His church and that same Authority back to the Earth. Now that church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, is available to all of God's children and the blessings that come from it. Show more Show less
