Hi I'm Chaz Ricks

I grew up in a small town called Benson, Utah. I am a carpet installer. I love to fish. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married for just over two years and love my wife so much! We have an awesome dog named Myra and love having her! I have been going to school at Utah State University for the last three years and after much deliberation have finally decided to major in Journalism with a minor in History. Since I was young I have always loved to write and to learn about history. I started writing small sports stories for a local online newspaper and love doing it. I am also in the process of creating my own carpet installation business with my good friend. I enjoy being active and being outside. I have recently re-kindled my love for fishing and have the goal of catching a monster catfish. I grew up playing basketball and baseball and still enjoy playing both those sports with my Dad and younger brother.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a loving home with parents that cherished and loved the gospel. My Mom and Dad were great examples to me of what it meant to be Christ-like. They always served one another and me and my brother and sister. They taught us how important it was that we were sons and daughters of our Heavenly Father and that we are special to Him. They especially taught us of the importance of Jesus Christ our Savior and of his role in our lives. When I was 15 my parents told my siblings and I that they were expecting a baby. We soon found out that there were a lot of complications with this little girl and that after birth she wouldn't live for very long. She lived for a little over 10 hours and then taken back into the arms of Heavenly Father. That small amount of time was enough to change our little family forever. We are grateful that because of our Savior Jesus Christ, we can return to live with our Heavenly Father after this life. I am grateful because I love my family and I do want to spend eternity with them. I am grateful for the hope that Christ brings me in living my day to day life. I have yet to live a perfect day, but it's wonderful to know that I can kneel down at night and ask for forgiveness and the gift of the spirit so I can live better each and every day.

How I live my faith

Recently my wife and I have been busy with various church responsibilities. We were Scout Leaders together and worked with the 11 year old scouts in helping them earn badges. My wife currently plays the piano in primary and I teach on Sundays. When we first started attending the ward in our area we were asked to be nursery workers. This meant that every Sunday we were in charge of watching all the little kids from 18 months to 3 years old. Being a nursery worker was the most difficult and rewarding assignment I have ever had in the church. I was not comfortable around crying, pooping, and screaming little kids. But man, did I learn a lot! I'm grateful for all the callings that I'm asked to do.
