Hi I'm Ashley VanDongen

I follow Christ.

About Me

I have been called to serve as a missionary in the Guatemala Guatemala City Central mission. I know it's where the Lord needs me and it's where he is preparing people for me to teach. I love the Lord so very much and I am grateful that he is blessing me with this experience. I know Heavenly Father expects much of me and I'm willing to do what he asks because I know it will lead to great happiness for myself and others. I have lived in Utah my whole life with my wonderful family. My mom and dad are both fantastic and so are my two brothers. My dad served his mission in Chile, my mom served in California and my older brother served in England. My little brother will leave on his mission a few months after I get home. I love my family and the gospel more than anything else. They are everything to me. I'm excited and very humbled to be able to help others understand the Plan of Salvation. I want others to know that they can be with their families forever. I love my family so much and I feel responsible to help others understand that they can be with their families after this life. I want to help Heavenly Father bring his children back to him and he's getting me started by sending me on a mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon (Member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints) because I love this church and I know it's true. I know that Jesus Christ suffered for the lives of all beings. I know that through His atonement I can repent for the things I've done wrong, and I can also feel an undeniable and overwhelming happiness for the things I've done right. I know I can and will live with my family forever through the covenants we make in the temple. I know that if we're faithful throughout our lives and if we obey, we will keep the blessings and promises the Lord has made with us. I know that through faith in the Lord, Jesus Christ, we can do all things. I know that our faith is put to the test and that endurance is hard, but I also know that if we endure, we will have blessings heaped upon our heads and we will feel the undying love our Father and Savior have for us. I know the Book of Mormon is true and that Joseph Smith translated it correctly. I know that He was a good man and a prophet called of God to restore the Gospel here to this Earth. I know Thomas S. Monson is called of God to lead this church. I know he's a true Prophet and I love him with everything in me. I know that if we humble ourselves, we will be able to feel His spirit touch our lives. I know that we face challenges in life and that we struggle. We need to turn to the Lord, not away. We need to call upon Him for help. Sometimes we feel the Lord has abandoned us and that He's not listening but if we just lift our heads and look up, we will realize He's been standing by us the whole time. He's been extending his hand, it's just up to us to reach out and take it. He's always there, and He will never leave. I know that He loves us and that He wants us to choose the right and strive to be like him. I know this church is true. I know this is a restored gospel, and I know without a doubt that our Heavenly Father and Savior live.

How I live my faith

I choose to live my faith by having faith. God knows what is best for us. We need to listen to him and follow his promptings so that we can live the greatest life we can and become more and more like Christ. I also live my faith by following the teachings of the Prophets. Prophets receive direct revelation from God the Father and Jesus Christ. They give us guidance and wisdom that is for our benefit and the benefit of others. Every direction they give is from what they've learned from a higher power. I also live my faith by being obedient to the commandments and the word of wisdom. I keep my body clean of toxic things, I obey what Heavenly Father has asked me to obey, I value the standards that the Lord presents and I love others.

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?
