Hi I'm James

I am currently serving in the Oregon Portland Mission, helping others come closer to Christ. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I am originally from Arizona, but I am now serving a 2 year mission in the Portland, Oregon area. I have two siblings, a brother and a sister. As a family, we enjoyed playing music together, mostly older music from the '40s through the '80s. I play guitar and a little bit of banjo. We didn't play publicly very often, but it was a fun way for us to spend time together as a family. We also have an interest in aviation and used to fly R/C model airplanes. We were homeschooled since I was in third grade, then I attended a community college for two semesters as a business major.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised as a member of The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I come from a long line of member ancestors, many of whom were some of the original Mormon Pioneers, and I am so grateful for their sacrifices and perseverance which allows me to have the gospel in my life. I am a Mormon because I know that this church is true, and I have found that when I live in accordance with the gospel, my life is much happier and full of purpose. I testify that God lives, that He loves me and He loves you. We are his children and He wants us to be happy. I know that if I continue to follow Jesus Christ by living His gospel, I will be with my family in the next life with our Heavenly Father. This knowledge is why I strive to be the best I can, and it provides me with great hope and joy.

How I live my faith

The restored gospel of Jesus Christ has blessed me and my family and brought us so much joy that it has given me a strong desire to share it with others. That is why I have chosen to leave my family and postpone my education to serve a mission. I know this church is true and that it can bless everyone that embraces it. As missionaries, we spend every day trying to find people to who are willing to learn more about Christ's gospel. We answer their questions and explain about our beliefs. We also do a lot of service projects for people. So far on my mission, I've pulled weeds, painted a house, replaced shingles, helped families move, shovel dirt, etc. Helping others is great!
