Hi I'm Kathryn

I grew up around the United States, the daughter of an army chaplain. I am a teacher. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My favourite things to do are write, read, group activities, and hiking. I'm currently a single woman that graduated from BYU two years ago. I studied History Teaching, and have worked as a substitute teacher and a teacher's aide. Teaching is my passion. I feel that teachers play an important role in the lives of youth throughout the word in helping them find their potential and shape their futures. I love traveling and have recently discovered a desire to learn to surf.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church. My parents were members, and I was baptized at age 8. I have continued to follow this gospel because as I have been a part of it my testimony of our Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, has grown tremendously. I love them and know that this is Their church, and with that knowledge I must continue to live as They would have me live. I live this gospel in appreciation for my Savior and all He has done for me. It encourages me to be a better person as I strive to be a better disciple, and it has brought me true happiness and peace. Following His gospel has given me strength and power to carry on during times in my life when I felt my lowest. I know its true!

How I live my faith

In my community I help out by being a teacher's aide. I work with young students to help them learn and grow and encourage them in the path to their great potential. I work to instill good values in them so that thye can be a good influence on the community as the grow. At church I have served in a variety of capacities, and just recently finished serving in the Relief Society presidency, helping young single adult women to be uplifted and brought closer to Christ. I enjoy spending time with them and helping others be strengthened in their testimonies of Christ, and look forward to doing so with more people as I begin a full-time mission!

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Kathryn
In my life, I have discovered that the best way to come to know our Heavenly Father is to follow the example of His Son in keeping the commandments and serving others. John 3:17 says, "And this is life eternal, that they might know thee, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent." The Book of Mormon tells us that we cannot come to know the Master if we have not served him (Mosiah 5:13) and that in serving our fellow man, we are serving God (Mosiah 2:17). Thus, to truly come to know our Father in Heaven, we must serve Him through serving others. We must reach out to those in need. Ultimately, Christ was the perfect example of this and so by living as a true disciple, we will be able to come to know Him and through Him our Heavenly Father. Show more Show less
