Hi I'm Brad

I'm from a small town in Utah. I'm a jack vegetarian and a huge music nerd. I'm a mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a more-or-less normal Mormon family, graduated High school and completed a semester of college. As the middle child, it's near inevitable that I would be the odd one out of 5 siblings. While my brothers and sisters excelled in soccer, I was the one who sat on the bench or chased butterflies. Music was my thing, and still is. Piano was my first instrument, at age 8. At 13 I picked up an old guitar in my basement and started learning that as well, eventually leading to your standard annoying junior high rock group, and a job as a music teacher. Good times. I spend most of my time discovering and appreciating all kinds of genres of music from all over. I'm also a vegetarian....most of the time. I am a geography major and hope to be able to travel and serve others around the world.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I have grown up in a Mormon family, attended church all my life, and been sheltered from harm my whole life, I didn't know what to believe. Like Joseph Smith, I was lost. Curiosity about other religions and teachings at school led me to question the truth. As I strayed from the gospel and lost my faith in God, I began to even doubt his existence. I became severely depressed and even spent time in rehab for thoughts of suicide. When all seemed lost, long story short, I remembered what I said on the day I was baptized. "It's a lot easier to smile now." I have learned that true happiness can only come through faith in something bigger. I have come to accept God as my higher power, and only after I accepted him could I recover from my depression which could have ended his life. For that, I have chosen to be his servant, and will continue to spread his teachings to help others feel true happiness that comes through faith and obedience.

How I live my faith

I have spent time learning and studying the teachings of Jesus Christ in my recent years through seminary at school, church on Sundays, and activities planned by my leaders. Many opportunities have been presented to me to be an example of Christ through service to my neighbors, my city, and even internationally. I have studied and taught lessons to my peers, spoken in church, and more recently had the privilege to be called to serve as a missionary to invite others to come unto Christ in Orlando, Florida for the next two years of my life. I love my Heavenly Father and Savior and owe everything to them.
