Hi I'm Jason

I'm a sports aficionado, an aspiring writer, a missionary, and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am an avid sports fan. I love playing pretty much every sport and I follow several teams closely. My dream is to become a writer and to be able to support my future family through my writing.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it is what I want to be. I have prayed to God and he has blessed me with answers and proof that I am on the right path. Being a Mormon has blessed my life in innumerable ways, and I trust that it will continue to do so.

How I live my faith

I live my faith right now by serving a mission in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I am devoting my time to Jesus Christ for 2 years. During that time I will serve Him by teaching people about His mission and His gospel. I want to teach people the teachings of Christ, and help them become truly happy and be blessed in their lives just as I have been.

In whom should we have faith?

We need to have faith in Jesus Christ. The scriptures teach us that trusting only in ourselves can't bring us true happiness in life. The only way for us to find purpose and joy in our lives is to put our faith in Christ and follow his example of love and kindness. Show more Show less

How are modesty and chastity related? How can parents teach their children to be modest in dress, language and behavior?

Immodesty could be referred to as a "gateway drug". In the sense that when women or men dress immodestly it leads all too often to immoral thoughts, and then to immoral actions. Dressing in a modest way helps everyone around you keep their thoughts clean and helps them avoid feeling uncomfortable around you. The best way for parents to teach their children about modesty, language and behavior is to first live the standards they want their children to live. If parents use coarse language and act inappropriately then inevitably their children will as well. My parents were an excellent standard for me to follow and they are one of the biggest reasons that I have learned to live my life in a clean and respectable way. Show more Show less

What is the purpose of the welfare services of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

The reason for the welfare service is in the phrase. It is to provide for the welfare of people and give us an opportunity to serve our fellow men. People are able to get help through the church's programs. But it is not just a hand-out. It is meant as an opportunity to get back on one's feet, to become self-reliant. The welfare program is meant to emulate what the Savior would do. During his mortal ministry he forgave an adulterous woman of her sin (John 8), but at the same time he told her to "go, and sin no more", meaning she had to become self-reliant. Show more Show less

Why do some call Mormonism a cult?

One of the main reasons is that there are differences between mainstream Christianity and Mormonism in certain doctrines. These differences sometimes lead to criticism from mainstream Christianity directed at Mormons and they label it as a "cult" because the beliefs are different. It is often done in an attempt to dissuade people from learning about the true beliefs of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Show more Show less
