Hi I'm Evan

I swim, surf, and play water polo. I love spending time with friends and family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Currently I am a college student, but I have taken two years off to serve as a missionary. I grew up in Southern California, so the beach will always have a special place in my heart. I did swimming and water polo in high school and had a ton of fun with that! Whether it's a drive-in movie, playing capture the flag, or jumping in a cold pool, I love going out late at night with my friends and making great memories. I also love my family, and although my parents are no longer together I still love going on vacations and spending time with them.

Why I am a Mormon

Being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has filled my life with a deeper sense of joy and purpose. Knowing God loves me and that Jesus Christ atoned for my sins has given me the strength to overcome even some of the most trying times of my life. It is easy to feel inadequate at times, but being able to rely on the Lord has truly been a blessing worth sharing.

How I live my faith

Having fun! As totally cheesy as that sounds, I have come to really enjoy spending time with the members of my faith and building lasting friendships. Church gives me a place where I can learn to love and serve others, which has helped me to become a more Christ-like individual.

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

For those who worry Mormons try to "work their way into heaven," I would highly recommend looking up a talk by Brad Wilcox entitled "His Grace Is Sufficient." This wonderful message explains the LDS view on grace vs. works. Basically, Mormons believe we are completely dependent on grace in order for salvation. The atonement cover everyone unconditionally. As we read in 2 Nephi 25:23, after all we can do it is by grace that we are saved. This verse is not saying grace only applies after we work; it means despite all we can do it is by grace we are saved. But, because Mormons have a deep love for their Savior and believe in becoming more like Christ, we do all that we can to live a life according to His example and His teachings. Show more Show less
