Hi I'm Jeanie

I am a Mother of 6 children,and a Grandmother of 14 grandchildren. I love gardening. I tamed 2 feral cats! I am a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a family 10 children. I went to college, got married at 20, became a P.E. Teacher and at the same time started a family of my own. While raising 6 children I did child care in my home for about 18 years. When the kids were all in school I started working in the schools in Special Education. This was an amazing job helping those young children with special needs! I really learned to appreciate these children and feel I had some good influence especially on the autistic children. I loved learning to communicate with them and helping them have success in school. Also, at this time in my life I had time to pursue some interests that have given me creative outlet. I have become an avid gardener and lover of plants and vegetables! I love creating a beautiful garden each spring. This winter I actually propagated some zinnias and coleus plants so I could not only see if I could learn the skill of propagating but saving money too. I also enjoy playing with 2 cats that we found in our garage and have since become my little furry yard friends! I love when my family come to visit. My grandchildren run and play ball in my yard. They are a joy to me and I spend a lot of time babysitting them and helping their parents with any needs they might have.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in a Mormon family. However, I always had a strong interests in learning about other religions. I studied many religions and find them fascinating! I've attended other denominations, but never found answers to those questions that made any sense to me. Why are we here on earth, where were we before birth, and where are we going? These questions are answered clearly in the Mormon faith. We are taught we are all children of a loving Heavenly Father who sent us here to have experience where we could learn to demonstrate our faith in him by living his teachings and serving others. His son Jesus Christ showed us the way and died for our sins and that we will live again after death with our families. This gives me hope and comfort and peace in this life that I can live again with my family. I love my family so much and believe so strongly that these teachings are true!

How I live my faith

When I was about 12 or 13 years old I started teaching Sunday School. I remember the children were about 4 years old. This began my life of teaching in my church. That was a short assignment of about a year, but it began my teaching career in the church and as a profession. I later refereed volleyball in the women's sports program in the church. I was getting my degree in teaching P.E. at the time. I only taught P.E. in the schools for about 6 months as I was pregnant with my 2nd child and quit working to be a Mother. However, I continued teaching in the church classes the rest of my life. I taught young women and young children, and I taught older women and nursery children. I also had opportunities to work and guide young women at summer youth camps! I attended camps for about 5 years where I served as a cook and counselor. During my life I have served as a missionary for the church for about 6 1/2 years.
