Hi I'm Marina

I am on a mission! I am a Mormon!

About Me

Growing up I have always loved boating or swimming. I have been in a choir class almost my entire life. Singing is one of my favorite things to do. When I sing I am able to be myself and I don't have to worry about impressing anyone because I sing for the fun of it. I love to read books that are fun and uplifting. My friends and I love watching movies and just talking during them instead of actually paying attention. I am excited to serve a mission in the Philippines Bacolod Mission. I want to help others who don't have the things essential to living, I want to be able to share what I have with them.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon, and I have been all of my life. Growing up I didn't really understand what it was to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, or a Mormon, I just knew that I was a Mormon. When I was growing up I accepted what my parents and my teachers were telling me without hesitation. It was when I began to start wondering on my own that I decided I needed to know for a surety that everything I had been taught was true. I decided to read the Book of Mormon all the way through, unlike all of the other times where I would skip spots here and there. After I finished the Book of Mormon it took awhile for me to realize that I already knew that the book was true and that God did send his Son, Jesus Christ, into the world that he may atone for our sins and then die so that we may repent and live with God again. I know that this is the restored gospel on the earth today. I also testify that Joseph Smith saw God the Father and his Son, Jesus Christ, when he was just a boy and that he then translated the Book of Mormon which is the word of God. I love this gospel and I know it is true.

How I live my faith

I am now on my mission. Every day I am studying the Book of Mormon and teaching about this wonderful gospel. I am taking the time to go out into the world and share what I know. I know that God lives and loves all of us and I want to share that to all who are willing to listen. Also, I am here on a mission to help people come unto God and find joy in their lives. I am so grateful to be here at this time. I love this work.

Why do Mormons perform baptisms for the dead?

God is a just and fair God. He wants everyone to have the same opportunity to receive his gospel, whether it be in this life or our life after we die. We as members when we are baptized in the temple for someone who has passed to the other side, they are given the opportunity to accept it while in that state. We will always have our own agency, even after we die. So it is still the choice of those who have died to accept or decline the ordinances that are performed for them. Show more Show less
