Hi I'm Lizzie Vance

I grew up in the Pacific Northwest. I love good books, soccer, and anything made with coconut. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a girl of varied interests. Thanks to having three brothers, I love sports. I grew up playing soccer every weekend, and juggling a ball in my backyard whenever I had a moment to spare. Some of my favorite memories include sitting in my basement with my dad watching the NCAA basketball tournament, World Series, or World Cup. Thanks to my mom, I have also developed a love for music. Whenever I need a moment of peace, I sit down at the piano and put a hold on the rest of my life. I receive the same kind of relaxation from reading a good book. There is something magical about the written word. I recently finished my first year at a university, and am thinking about majoring in either mechanical engineering or physics. I love this life, and I try my hardest to live every moment--good or bad--to the fullest.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of this church my entire life. There is a peace that comes from knowing my divine heritage and potential. As I have sincerely read the Book of Mormon, and prayed about its authenticity, I have felt an undeniable confirmation that it is true. There is something inside of me that knows that God lives. He is my Heavenly Father. I am His daughter. He loves me and knows me perfectly. This knowledge provides me with so much comfort. I am also comforted by my knowledge of Jesus Christ's atonement. I have felt its power work in my life. Although it is hard to adequately describe, there is no doubt in my mind that I have had my guilt swept away by divine forgiveness, my weaknesses strengthened through grace, and divine comfort wrapped around me during hard times. Because I am a daughter of God, and have received a personal witness that this is His church on the Earth, I will do all I can to help others also receive this wonderful, beautiful knowledge.

How I live my faith

I try to make living my faith a natural part of who I am. For me, service is huge. I have set a goal to not go a single day without performing some act of service. I also love being a visiting teacher. Every month, I go visit a girl in my ward. We have become good friends, and are there to strengthen each other. I also teach my ward's Sunday School. The curriculum this year is focused on the Old Testament. It has been a a privilege to study this ancient scripture and help teach it to my friends. I think, however, that the greatest way I live my faith is by trying to be like Christ. Although I am far from perfect, I try treat others like I know He would treat them.
