Hi I'm Jansen

I grew up in Tennessee. I moved to California during high school. I've played tuba for seven years. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I enjoy spending time playing all sorts of sports. Usually, I'm calm and reserved, but during a game, my emotions flare and probably become the loudest, most energized person on the field/court. On the flip side, I love a good chess game. I've spent the greater part of life devoting myself to the game, which has allowed me to meet people from several different backgrounds. Chess has provided me with lifelong friends across the country. My friends are very important to me. I love going out with them to participate in activities ranging from sightseeing to community service. It is a real relief to have someone I can share my thoughts and problems with without fearing ridicule or total embarrassment. I love to smile and be happy. I'm slow to anger and easy to befriend.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church, but I needed a testimony of my own. I remember finishing The Book Of Mormon one night and kneeling down to pray. I wanted to see for myself if it was true. As I prayed, tears came to my eyes and I knew what I had read was true. Another witness came years later when I participated in a production of Savior of the World. Rehearsals were long and discouraging, but I wanted to experience the love the cast and crew members had for each other. During a performance, I felt the Spirit stronger than ever before as I looked down at the little baby Jesus and sang "Jesus, Once of Humble Birth". Tears streamed from my eyes as I sang. I knew that Jesus Christ lives. Whenever I think about this experience, I still begin to tear up. I love my Savior and I want to live with him forever in God's kingdom. I know the gospel to be true. Joseph Smith had a vision and saw God the Father and Jesus Christ and translated The Book of Mormon. Thomas S. Monson is the living prophet and leads us in the right direction. My family can be together for eternity. My testimony is simply what I believe to be true. With it, I know I am never alone. I have a Father in Heaven who loves me and wants me to succeed.

How I live my faith

I have served in leadership positions among the youth. I help plan future activities and try to include all the youth in as many activities as possible. My companion and I visit the homes of several members monthly to check up on them and share a spiritual thought. Also, I take the sacrament to members of my congregation who cannot make it to church due to medical issues. It brings joy and happiness to me when I see the gratitude and love in their eyes. I am always willing to serve when a church leader calls on me to do something. I spend time cleaning the church building when our ward is tasked with cleaning. I try to set an example for the other youth by always smiling and speaking kindly to everyone. Every week I stand up and lead the music for the opening song in the Priesthood meeting. I love my ward and would do anything to help it to grow both physically and spiritually.
