Hi I'm Maya

I grew up in Jackson Hole, Wy & I love being outside. I am currently attending college and hoping to major in business management.

About Me

Growing up in Jackson Hole, WY gave me a deep appreciation for the outdoors. In the summer, I love spending time going to lakes and hiking in Grand Teton National Park. In the winter, I enjoy skiing, snowshoeing, and sledding. I have also had the opportunity to live in the Cayman Islands for a short time of my life, which is where my love for the ocean and scuba diving developed. I love spending time with my family, doing puzzles, baking, learning, and making crafts/decorations. Lastly, I am currently attending college. I just recently switched my major from Earth & Space Science Education to Business Management.

Why I am a Mormon

I choose to be a Mormon because I love the Lord. I know that He loves me because He is always there for me. The Lord and His gospel have helped me get through hard times and have made my good times even better. Being a Mormon helps me to better understand life. It helps me to understand why bad things must happen to good people, and why learning and loving are so important. Being a Mormon helps me to be a better daughter to my parents, a better sister to my siblings, and a better friend to everyone.

How I live my faith

On Monday nights, Mormon families all around the world gather together to learn about Christ and have some family fun. This weekly event is called "Family Home Evening." Here at college, we are all away from our families. Because of that, we are all organized into small groups of college students, which stands as our temporary 'family' for the school year. This past school year, I had the opportunity to be called as the "Family Home Evening Mother" of my college student family. This meant that I was responsible for helping plan each Monday night activity and lesson. Many of our lessons consisted of watching a Mormon Message and talking about it for a couple of minutes. Our activities included game nights, bowling, classic-skating, and much more. Starting this summer, I will continue to live my faith as I become a Mormon missionary in Japan for 18 months. I love the Lord and His gospel so much that I will be leaving my family, friends, and education behind in order to share this message that means the world to me.
