Hi I'm Wesley Hooker

I grew up in Virginia. I'm Serving in the Rancho Cucamonga, California Mission, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to lift weights, and play video games! I am currently on my mission in Rancho Cucamonga, California.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the LDS Church my whole life. When I entered into High School my brother left for His Mission in Tulsa, Oklahoma and I started to have doubt my beliefs. I started looking up information on many other religions and also learning more about my religion on my own. I came across anti-religious teachings and information and it affected me greatly. I felt that religion was a thing of the past, I felt that it was just something people wanted to be true so they could feel better about things they did not have an answer to. I struggled to hold on to beliefs that I once had, I did not believe in god, I did not believe in a life after our life on this earth. I was saddened by the things I started to think. I feared everything that was to come after this life because I had no faith in God. My brother got back from his mission, and 6 months later my older sister left for hers. That got me excited once again and I started to redevelop some of the beliefs and faith that I had once had and lost. I sent in my papers to serve a mission, and 6 months later I left for it. The very first day I had arrived in my mission I sat down with my companion and a member. When the member had left I started to cry. My companion asked me what was wrong. I told him that I did not believe in god. I then said," How can I go around teaching people something that I do not even fully believe myself?" He left the room, and I sat there, 20 minutes later, 2 missionaries walk in the door. They gave me a blessing of comfort, and then asked me for my favorite scripture. I turned to Enos 1:27 in the Book of Mormon, and read. He told me that I did believe in God, or I would not have picked such a scripture. And that hit me. I still did have faith that he was there. But it has taken me 19 years to figure that out. Throughout the next 3 months I saw many miracles and have felt God's presence many times. It took that much, for me to now say that I know God lives. And I know he lives.

How I live my faith

I now serve in Rancho Cucamonga, California. I live the teachings of Jesus Christ. I have faith in him, I have faith in God, I strive to be the best I can be everyday. I fall, I make mistakes, but I make them better, I become better. I invite others to learn of the truths that I have come to know for themselves. The only way you can learn is on your own. You must put forth an effort, You must read the words of god, You must live them, You must pray, and you have to do everything you can to know he is there, or you will never know that he is. And now, I tell you right now, that God is there. That there is a life after death. I want you to know that there is a reason we are here, we are God's children. This life was not Arbitrary, it was no random coincidence. We are here for a reason, and you can find out for yourself. These things I'm saying are not just a hope that God is there, but a knowledge that he lives. I know that his gospel has been restored to this earth once again, and I love you all.

Who was Joseph Smith?

Wesley Hooker
Joseph smith was a boy with a question. He was confused by all of the churches on the earth, every religion taught so differently about the same thing. Some viewed Jesus Christ as our savior, others didn'nt. Some thought baptism should be performed at birth, others thought different. Joseph didnt know who was right, how should he, he was just a 14 year old boy! The one thing he did know was true was the bible. When reading the bible one day he stumbled over a verse, James 1:5 and read, "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, who giveth to all men liberally and abradeth not and it shall be given him." That verse hit him hard, he was never going to know what to do, but he knew god would. So he decided to ask. He went into the woods and prayed, and as he did so God and Jesus Christ came down and spoke to him. He asked which church was right, what he should do, who he should believe. They told him that none of them were true, that they all had pieces of truth but were missing the whole. They then helped him restore the church to the earth. Through God and Jesus Christ, Joseph Smith restored that same gospel that Jesus Christ once had on this earth. That same church Jesus organized, is the Church today, THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST.
