Hi I'm Adam

I am a soldier and a cop. I am a father and a husband. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My life has been interesting up to this point. My parents were divorced and remarried to my step- parents when I was young. I am a high school graduate with some college under my belt. I enlisted in the Army National Guard after coming home early from my mission to Antananarivo Madagascar. Following my military training I put myself through the police academy and now I work as a Sheriff's deputy. I am married and have the cutest little boy. I play rugby and love the sport very much.

Why I am a Mormon

Although my life has been rough at times, the Lord has always been there for me. When my parents got divorced I struggled with understanding how I felt about many things including the church. As I prayed and searched for answers, I came to them in the scriptures and with the help of the spirit I was able to understand many things. I know that this is the true church upon the face of the Earth. I know that Joseph Smith was a true prophet and that current prophet is the true prophet, called of God, in the latter- days. I have read and pondered the things in the Book of Mormon and I know that they are true. I know that Heavenly Father is our loving Father in Heaven and that He has a plan for all of us that we might return to live in His presence again.

How I live my faith

I have been struggling to live my faith recently. I haven't been as active in the church as I should be and it has been difficult due to my family's recent move to a new city, my new job, and my military obligations. A few years ago I was sent on a mission to Antananarivo Madagascar but returned home early due to medical reasons. I hope to be more active in this new ward and in my community.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Adam
To keep it simple, No. Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints are not required to serve missions. Missionary work is completely voluntary. Missionaries are not paid for their service but in fact pay to serve. Missions are completely paid for by the missionary. However, members of the church consider it a privilege to serve their fellow man and show their love for the gospel by serving missions. Missionaries are official representatives of the Church while they are serving. Some people never serve a mission and that is completely fine. Missions are tough yet amazing experiences.
