Hi I'm Ben Watson

I grew up farming in Montana. I fought forest fires throughout the west. I traveled the world as a folk dancer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a husband and dad who loves to have fun with the family. I met my wife when we performed together with an international folk dance performing arts company. Music is an important part of my life. I play the piano, trombone, guitar, and accordion. Yes, the accordion. I grew up working on the family farm in Montana where we raised barley (and sometimes wheat). I now do marketing for a university. I co-founded an oilfield trucking company, produced a basketball documentary in Australia, served in the Army National Guard, and fought forest fires with my dad and brothers. However, in the midst of it all--the most important and exciting moments in life involve my wife and kids.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I am convinced and believe wholeheartedly that God restored His priesthood authority church organization to Joseph Smith through direct revelation and the ministry of angels. Membership in the Church is something I take very seriously. Either it is of divine origin . . . or it is not. It really is that simple. And because I believe in personal revelation, I believe God will answer the personal, heartfelt questions of each of His children. As stated in James 1:5 "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of of God . . . and it shall be given him." Through sincere prayer, all can receive personal confirmation regarding anything -- including the divine origins and continued veracity of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints does much more for me than simply provide a weekly church service. It houses the doctrine and saving ordinances which allow my family to successfully navigate this world of trouble and ever-shifting values--and continue our progression together as a family through eternity.

How I live my faith

I believe faith is a word of action, and therefore I try to live my faith by serving in my church and looking for ways to help neighbors when the opportunity presents itself. Right now, I serve as the choir director for my congregation. We rehearse weekly and perform monthly. I also teach the nursery-age kids (under 3 yrs old) at church. It is very important to me that my kids at home understand who God is and what His plan consists of for all of us. At home, we strive to pray daily and read from the scriptures. My aim to help nurture a seed of faith in each of my children.
