Hi I'm Todd

I'm a Mormon. I'm a Soldier, a Military Intelligence Officer. I'm a Dad. I grew up in the LDS Church. That fact defines me.

About Me

I grew up in Utah and was raised in the faith. My parents are both converts to the church. I am the oldest of eight, four natural to my parents and four adopted. I am an Eagle Scout I served an LDS mission in Germany. I joined the US Army as a young married man and still serve as a Soldier more than 22 years later. My first marriage did not survive my career and second deployment into Iraq and the complications they presented to my ex wite's long struggles with bipolar disorder. My great blessing in that tragedy was to be awarded custody of my four beautiful children. My oldest daughter married this summer in the Mt. Timpanogos Temple to a wonderful, faithful man. My twin boys will leave on their LDS missions in the next few months. Now remarried, my wife and I will continue raising her three daughters and my baby girl as strong daughters of God. Family is my life. I love the outdoors, camping, skiing and scuba diving. Reading is my favorite alone time activity. I'm a jack of all trades and can do just about anything I have time and money to do.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because the lifestyle I experience in trying to live my faith is one that brings me hope and happiness. I was raised in the church and the lifestyle and doctrines of the faith are a part of my being and self identity. That said, I am a convert of the church and more importantly, I am a convert to and believer in Jesus Christ. It is Jesus Christ and His teachings, his immutable Atonement and unconditional love, His everpresent invitation to repent and follow Him, to receive of His grace that is the core of my testimony of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The church was restored through a Prophet, Joseph Smith and lead by a living prophet and apostles today. The Book of Mormon helps me to understand the infinite love of my Savior in a personal and empowering way and stands as a proof of calling as Prophet of the Lord Jesus Christ for Joseph Smith. I have learned for myself in countless ways large and small that the Book of Mormon is all it claims to be, a witness of Jesus Christ and his divinity as the Only Begotten of the Father, strengthening and focusing the truths of the Holy Bible. The gospel of Jesus Christ as taught in the church is unmatched in its comprehensiveness and purity among all the faiths I have encountered or studied, but more importantly, God answers prayers and he has answered mine again and again with witnesses I can only attribute to Him and His goodness and mercy that to be a Mormon is the greatest blessing He can bestow on anyone in this life and by that path eternal life is found by the salvation, redemption, and grace of Christ. Through His church He continues His clarion call to "Come, Follow me!" I am a Mormon because my hope for myself and my family is to do just that, follow Jesus Christ, be counted His, a disciple, a Latter-day Saint, a Christian who lives his religion in all truth and righteousness.

How I live my faith

I do all I can to live my faith day in and day out. My family attends church with me each and every week. There is nothing as renewing as partaking of the sacrament (communion) each week to remember the covenants of my baptism into the church and Christian faith. My kids are very involved in the church youth programs and I do my best to support them in their goals and aspirations for excellence. We are currently reading the New Testament as a family, something we do every evening before family prayer and bedtime routines. My wife is a Sunday School teacher so we study the Old Testament to support her lesson plans from week to week. I am currently serving in the Sunday School as a secretary. I assist the instructors in maintaining a good record of attendence for the students in their classes. I assist the leaders of my congregation in creating the necessary reports, setting up teacher improvement training, and reaching out to those who come less frequently to extend an invitation to come and learn of our Savior, Jesus Christ in our Sunday School. I don't drink alcohol or use any tobacco and diligently abjure pornography in all its forms. I try to live healthy and follow the counsels of the church in avoiding things of negative influence and seek to make my life positive both in what enters it and what I contribute as well. Whether in church, at work as a Soldier in the Army, or in my Family, I do all I can to be the same guy. Nothing is more important than my role as a husband and father. My personal study is in the Book of Mormon, in German this time around to remember my own mission as my boys prepare for theirs.
