Hi I'm George

I grew up in Arkansas. After graduating from college, I entered the Air Force and spent 30 years in the service of my country.

About Me

After graduating from college, I was assigned to Hill Air Force Base in Utah. I joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when I was 31 and the next year met my wife at a church dance. We had a very short courtship because the Holy Ghost told me she was to be my eternal companion. I spent 30 years as a Bioenvironmental Engineer in the U.S. Air Force. I loved my work and could not have had a better work experience. I often felt the influence of Christ and the Holy Ghost in my assignments and opportunities. I like to keep active. I especially enjoy outdoor activities -- hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, skiing, walking, and running, I enjoy doing things with my family and close friends. My wife and I have been married wife for 35 years. She is my best friend, my most ardent cheerleader, exemplary role model, and eternal companion. We raised five wonderful children and now have 15 grandchildren. The Lord Jesus Christ has always supported me in my work and family life. I love my savior and shall have eternal gratitude for His atonement. I will go anywhere and do anything he asks of me to prove my faithfulness and gratitude.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew us as a Baptist and had many wonderful experiences associating with members of that church. I know that there are many wonderful people in all the churches. But when I was 31, two young missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints taught me of the restored gospel, I read the Book of Mormon and took Moroni's challenge to read, ponder, and pray as to its truthfulness. I am grateful that the Holy Ghost touched my heart and witnessed to me that the Book of Mormon was true and that Joseph Smith was the prophet of this last dispensation. I knew without a shadow of doubt that this was Christ's restored Church and became baptized upon finishing the lessons. My 36 years in His Church have only solidified my conviction of its truthfulness and that the Church is lead by a living prophet and apostles today. My membership in the Church has blessed my life and the life of my family in so many ways. But more importantly it has increased my faith in the Savior and helped me draw closer to Jesus Christ as I have continued to learn of His gospel, exercise faith, and serve my fellow man.

How I live my faith

I absolutely love my membership in the Church of Jesus of Latter-day Saints. My membership in the Church has provided wonderful opportunities to serve and grow closer to the Savior. In addition to my own family, I have a Ward family that I love and enjoy serving. To me the priesthood is synonymous with service. I find great joy and happiness in serving my family and my Ward family. As a Home Teacher I enjoy spending time with the families assigned to me. Much of my time in the Church has been working with the youth in Priesthood and Scouting efforts. I love the youth of the Church -- they are remarkable individuals and have always served as a Christ-like example to me. Their enthusiasm for life and desire to serve the Savior have made me want to do better with my own life. I am currently the Sunday School President. I could not ask for better counselors in my Sunday School Presidency -- I know they love the Savior as I do and will do anything He asks of them. I am also Boy Scout Committee Chairman and teach several Boy Scout merit badges. I find tremendous happiness in serving the youth of our community and helping them to become better citizens, husbands, fathers, and priesthood holders.
