Hi I'm Shannon

I'm a wife, mom, career professional, beach bum, Zumba fanatic and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My husband and I just started our "empty nest" phase as our oldest son just made me a grandma four months ago and my youngest is serving a mission in Mozambique Africa. With full time work,a busy church calling, and occasional opportunities to babysit my beautiful granddaughter...I'm certainly not bored. In my free time I like to travel to foreign lands (India & Paris) and anywhere there is water, palm trees and sand between my toes. I love to dance but really hate exercise so when I discovered Zumba it quickly became my favorite activity.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the church with my family when I was 13 years old. I remember the day when we met the missionaries. We lived in Colorado at the time and had a very protective and loud German Shepard dog. One day there was a knock at the door but we all thought we were hearing things because the dog wasn't barking. My mom went to the door just to check and there stood two elderly sister missionaries with the sweetest smiles asking if they could share a message about Jesus Christ. My mother was so impressed that the dog was watching them but only wagging his tail so she decided to let them in. That was our first meeting with the missionaries. Fast forward almost a year later, many new missionaries, lessons and a move to a new state we were finally baptized in 1982. My mother passed away about 6 years later but I am so grateful for her willingness to listen to those missionaries long ago that taught us about eternal families. I miss her every day but my testimony of the truthfulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ carries me. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the restored gospel of Jesus Christ once again upon the earth. The Book of Mormon testifies of Jesus Christ and I feel the Spirit when I read its words. It supports the scriptures found in the Bible which I believe to be true as well. I am thankful for the knowledge of where I came from, why I'm here and where I'm going. This knowledge has been a gift that continues to give me strength to endure and the hope that I will not only be with my mom again one day but that I can return to live with my Heavenly Father and my Savior Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

My church calling is currently to serve in the Relief Society presidency for my ward. In this role I am honored to work side by side with women to offer service and provide strength and friendship to one another. It's an organization that teaches and emphasizes the great blessings of womanhood and how we are daughter's of our Heavenly Father. I'm grateful to have this calling and it strengthens me to know that I not only have the support of my sisters at a local level but it's a world wide sisterhood as well.
