Hi I'm Janice Prettyman

I grew up in Southern California. I am a mother of 5 daughters and work part time as an RN in labor and delivery. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife and mother of 5 daughters and grandmother of 8. I love the outdoors; camping, backpacking, kayaking, bodysurfing, biking, walking, etc. I like to spend my time at home gardening. I attended college in Southern California. My greatest joy is my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined this church when I was about to turn 18. My father died when I was 17 and some of my friends thought that I would benefit from hearing about the gospel. I had grown up Methodist, but the more I learned about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, the more I believed that it was true. I felt as though I had heard it before. I was soon baptized and have loved being a Mormon ever since. I know that God is our Eternal Father and that his Son, Jesus Christ atoned for our sins that we might be forgiven if we repent. I know that God has sent the Holy Ghost to teach and guide, comfort and protect us. We can be with our families forever. The commandments have been given to us as a guide to help us be happy if we will but live them. I have found this to be true in my own life. The blessings that come from living the gospel bring true happiness. This I why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I serve with the youth at church, in particular the Young Women ages 12-18. I help plan and carry out meaningful activities and experiences for them to grow spiritually and develop friendships while having fun. I also visit several women from church each month to see how thy are doing and offer help when needed. I love going out with the missionaries to teach others about Jesus Christ and his wonderful gospel.

Mormons believe Jesus Christ is their Savior. Why do we need a Savior?

Janice Prettyman
None of us are perfect. We all make mistakes and sometimes make wrong choices. We are not able to rid ourselves of these sins on our own. Jesus Christ was perfect and was the only one that had the power to take away our sins. When we repent, we confess our sin and ask our Father in Heaven to forgive us. We do all that we can to make up for the wrong we have done and promise not to do it again. Then we do our best to live the commandments. After all we can do, Jesus, our Savior, pleads with the Father on our behalf. Because of His perfect sacrifice we can then be forgiven and washed clean. Show more Show less
