Hi I'm Bob

I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a father of 12 children and retired from the UC.

About Me

I am 73 years old. I have had a great career in the US Navy, the federal government, private industry and recently retired from the University of California. My wife Connie and I are the parents of 12 children, grandparents of 24, and great grandparents of 3.

Why I am a Mormon

I was not a member of the church when I married my wife. She was a member and I met a number of missionaries in the early years of our marriage. I had no real interest in the church and so there was no progress. At one point I decided I would ask my wife to leave the church so that we could have more time to do "fun" things on Sundays. I knew that if I was going to ask her to do this I needed to honestly determine for myself whether the church was what it claimed to be - the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. There is a promise in the Book of Mormon found in Moroni chapter 10 verses 3 to 5, that if you read the book and ask God with a sincere heart and real intent, he will manifest the truth unto you through the Holy Ghost. I had never done this. I did it so that I could honorably ask my wife to leave the church, but I did it honestly. To my surprise the Lord answered my prayers with an undeniable testimony that the Book of Mormon was true and that this church was all that it claimed to be. I was baptized and my life changed dramatically. I will be forever grateful to my wife and to the Lord.

How I live my faith

Throughout my time as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (49 years) I have worked with teenagers and served in several Bishoprics (the religious leaders of a congregation), first as a Counselor to other Bishops and now as a Bishop myself.
