Hi I'm Sean Freiberg

I'm a husband, a father of 3, a dentist, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in the United States (Connecticut, Florida, California, Utah, and Oregon) but now live in Alberta, Canada. When I was 19 years old, I served as a missionary for my church in Finland for two years. I graduated from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah and then went on to receive a doctorate degree at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, Oregon. I have been a dentist for 15 years now. I have been happily married to my beautiful wife for 21 years, and we have 3 wonderful children. I enjoy all sorts of activities especially working out, snowboarding, and everything you can do on a lake.

Why I am a Mormon

I love the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The understanding that God is our Heavenly Father and that He has a plan for us gives my life purpose. There is great peace in knowing where I came from before this life, why I am here now, and where I am going after this life. Learning that God’s plan includes a way for families to be together after this life inspires me to be a better father and husband. I love that God is not silent, but has appeared and appointed prophets in our day as He did in Old Testament times. In a world of conflicting views and contradictory doctrines, it is reassuring to know that God has established and currently directs His Church through prophets and apostles as was done in New Testament times. I love that God spoke to prophets in the ancient Americas like He did in the Middle East. Their record, found in the Book of Mormon, stands as a second scriptural witness along with the Bible of the divinity of Jesus Christ. The writings of these ancient prophets in the Book of Mormon fortify my faith and bring great clarity to the teachings of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

Every day I try to follow the teachings and example of Jesus Christ. I often fall short but am grateful for the opportunity Christ has given me through His atoning sacrifice to repent and try again. I value the relationship I have with my Heavenly Father through daily prayer and regularly feel His loving hand in my life when I am in need of guidance or comfort. I enjoy studying and increasing my knowledge of the Gospel of Jesus Christ by reading the Bible, the Book of Mormon, and the teachings of modern-day prophets and apostles. I continually work at being a better father and husband. Knowing that families are central to God’s plan for us helps me prioritize the things that will have eternal consequences. I also appreciate the opportunities for service that are available in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Serving others brings great fulfillment to my life. Currently, I have a specific assignment to teach individuals and congregational leaders how to do genealogy, which plays a vital role in our worship services that occur in our temples.
