Hi I'm Jason Carlile

I am a retired district attorney, a grandfather and husband. And I am a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in the country and went to a very small grade school. As a child, I remember using an out house at our humble home. Yet education was important to my family and eventually I went to college and then to law school. After law school I became a deputy district attorney and learned about honor and justice and was given the responsibility to use the law to protect the public. After seven years of trying hundreds of criminal cases including murders and sexual assaults, I became the elected district attorney and I was elected six times and served in that office for 25 years. Though I dealt with many difficult things at work, I kept balance in my life because of my family and the gospel of Jesus Christ. Though I often saw the worst in humanity. I knew that our Heavely Father has a plan for each of his children. But the choice to follow His plan is up to us.

Why I am a Mormon

As a boy, my parents taught me the stories of Jesus, as well as other Bible stories and stories from the Book of Mormon. I have always known that God is real and that His Son, Jesus Christ came to this world and died for our sins and was then resurrected. As I grew older, I wondered about the idea that Christ's church and His authority were lost from earth. Then I studied the Book of Mormon and prayed to Heavenly Father and asked if this book was really the word of God and I found out that it is. Then it was easy for me to gain a testimony that Joseph Smith was the prophet of the restoration of the gospel and the priesthood of Jesus Christ to the earth. That authority continues and God has blessed us with a living prophet on the earth today: Thomas S. Monson. Jesus has invited all to "come follow me" and to become like him. That is my desire. I want to become like Him.

How I live my faith

Now that I am a grandfather. I look back with great pleasure on all the parent teacher conferences, music lessons and concerts that my wife and I enjoyed with our children. We developed wonderful friends as we coached our children and attended hundreds of their athletics events. The parents of our children's friends became our friends and we continue to enjoy these relationships. Serving the Boy Scouts of America, local child advocacy center, Boys and Girls club and other service organizations has and continues to enrich my life. I want to be a disciple of Jesus Christ and serve others. My parents taught me to serve and I continue to serve in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latte-day Saints as a Stake President, having previously served as a bishop twice, elder's quorum president and in many other ways. I love to home teach and those relationships are a joy in my life.
