Hi I'm Jessica

I'm a cardiac RN in socaL that loves country, classic films and novels, making things with my hands, and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I'm just a "typical" young adult, I suppose. Trying to balance work, life, Church, school, friends and family, health, etc... I love taking advantage of every opportunity I can fit into my schedule. I'm always at concerts, festivals, museums, or planning my next vacation/adventure. There's so much to do and so little time! I find myself loving everything. I try to always make the gospel my priority in my life, and everything always works out =]

Why I am a Mormon

I love this gospel because it makes everyone better, and it establishes a great community that is always there to support, learn from, and teach you. This gospel has helped me to become close to my Savior. I know that I am never alone. That knowledge makes going through the challenges that life throws at me a little easier. The gospel makes me so happy, knowing my role and purpose on this earth.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be a better person today than I was yesterday. This life is all about learning and improving. I truly find that I can grow closer to the Savior through "little" daily actions, like regular prayer, scripture study, service, and church meetings.

What is the Book of Mormon?

Jessica
I love that there is a book that discusses Christ's time in the Americas. I am always puzzled as to why other religions are so quick to criticize this book without reading it. It is just another testament of Jesus Christ, and who doesn't want more about His life on this earth? Who wouldn't want to learn more about His teachings? I love the Bible very much, but alone, I feel like part of the puzzle is missing. The Book of Mormon gives a lot of insight to Christ's character and has SO many great lessons. It answers many important questions, and I'm so grateful for it! Show more Show less

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

Jessica
I know that there are a lot of reality shows that feature Mormons, but most of those shows do not accurately portray the mainstream Latter Day Saint Church. Mainstream Mormonism wouldn't make a very good show... we are simply a people who try to keep Christ the center of our lives. We don't wear bonnets or practice polygamy. We go to Church on Sundays, where we learn from each other and teach each other about how we can become better people and how we can better serve one another. We believe in the "Word of Wisdom," which is a list of guidelines set out by our Church for healthy living. This includes avoiding potentially addictive substances, like coffee, alcohol, drugs, etc. We try to keep the commandments, which includes abstaining from sex before marriage. We try to avoid entertainment that is violent, crass, or pornographic in nature. We believe that the traditional family unit is extremely important for society and for Heavenly Father's plan for us. The family is where we can best learn to reach our highest potential. For the most part, we like singing and playing games and things that are uplifting. Like I said, we probably wouldn't make a very good reality show. =] Show more Show less
