Hi I'm Robert

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormon). I am also a Surgeon!

About Me

I am married to a wonderful woman and together we have 5 beautiful children, and two grandchildren. I love living in Idaho where the air is clean, water is clear, and surroundings are some of the most beautiful that God has given to His children. I enjoy helping others to live more healthy lives as I practice surgery, and I also love to play outdoors in many different activities, especially waterskiing, snowmobiling and hiking.

Why I am a Mormon

I am blessed enough to be a 5th generation member of the church. My wonderful ancestors on both sides were devout and committed members of the Church of Jesus Christ. Because of that, I have been able to enjoy many blessings and gain strength from their many examples of faith. I formally joined the church of my own accord when I was 8 years old and was baptized. Over many years of experiences, my faith in God, Jesus Christ and His restored Gospel has grown stronger. I have been through many challenges and difficulties, just like everybody else. But because I know God lives, He loves us and sent His Son to atone for our sins, we can again return to live with Him if we just follow His teachings and truly experience a change of heart. I know with all my being that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and has brought me personally closer to God than anything else I have done. Joseph Smith was a true prophet and was the instrument that God used to bring His gospel back to the earth. We are led by a true prophet today, President Thomas S. Monson, who receives revelation for mankind and how we can all be happy, even in this world of chaos, wickedness and pain. I know God loves all His children, and wants them to seek His help in returning to our Heavenly Home.

How I live my faith

Family means everything to me because, really, that is all that matters here on earth. The restored Gospel of Jesus Christ is what allows me to enjoy these relationships to the fullest, and I look forward to being together as a family forever as we try to live Christ's teachings. I have served in many different volunteer church positions, and especially love working with the youth, helping them through problems as well as celebrating their accomplishments. I served a 2 year church mission many years ago to Sendai, Japan. My dream is to someday return to that beautiful country to renew old friendships, see the cherry blossoms again, and enjoy the delicious food!! I am involved in many service projects because I feel that is what the Savior would want me to do in order to help my neighbors. The satisfaction of service to my family and friends is what sustains me in this often difficult life.

What does Mormonism teach regarding baptism?

We believe that Jesus showed us the way back to live with our Heavenly Father. The first step in that journey is baptism. Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist in the river Jordan by immersion, and commanded us to do the same. By the age of 8, children have the ability to decide right from wrong on their own, and therefore can choose to follow the Savior and be baptized the same way He was--by immersion and by one who has Priesthood authority given to them. Being baptized is the initial way that we can show God that we have faith in Him, are willing to repent of our sins, and follow Jesus Christ and His teachings as we try to become more Christlike in our lives.
