Hi I'm Bethany

I'm a dietitian, wife, mother, and blog author. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

In my work as a dietitian, my passion is chronic disease, where I can help people manage their symptoms and complications, or even slow disease progression. A lot of people think that dietitians eat perfectly all the time, but the truth is that most of us chose this career because we love food! In my spare time I love to read cookbooks and food blogs, and while I do often adapt recipes to make them healthier, I love a good calorie-laden dessert just as much as anyone. My husband and I are each other's biggest cheerleaders, and we spend as much time as possible with each other and our baby girl. We have lots of fun playing games, watching silly youtube videos, talking about anything and everything, and spending time with each other's families. My other hobbies include writing a blog, making photo books, reading classic novels, playing the flute, and daydreaming about world travel.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because all of the joy I feel in my life stems from living the doctrines found in the gospel of Jesus Christ. His church has provided the way for me to be baptized, to be sealed in the temple, to receive comfort through Priesthood blessings, and to be changed for the better through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. If it were not for the efforts I've made to follow the teachings of the scriptures and of living prophets, I would not be the person I am today and I would not have the joy and peace that I have.

How I live my faith

I currently serve as a Sunday School teacher of youth aged 16-18. Serving as a teacher provides me the wonderful opportunity to study gospel topics throughout the week that I might not otherwise think to study. I find that working with the youth can be very challenging, but the most rewarding moments come when they teach me! I also serve as a "visiting teacher". This refers to an assigned set of women that myself and another woman reach out to and visit with. We usually do monthly visits, and the time spent visiting with ladies that live in my area is one of the highlights of my month. I try to build genuine relationships with the ladies we are assigned, so that if and when they need someone, they will know they can count on me. On a more personal level, I pray and study the scriptures every single day on my own and with my husband, and I attend church every Sunday. These simple acts keep my faith burning bright.
