Hi I'm Gary

I grew up in Southern California. I joined the church in 1956 when I was twelve years old. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a retired college professor planning to serve as a missionary in Southern Africa where I was a Peace Corps Volunteer from 1968-70. I had previously served a mission in Chile and lived in Spain and Argentina. I enjoy gardening, jogging, raising miniature cattle and chickens and travel. I am married and have six children and twenty grand children. I speak Spanish and a little Sesotho.

Why I am a Mormon

My family was visited by two elderly missionaries when we lived in Compton, California. I was curious about the church because we lived next door to a Mormon family from Utah who were not active in their church. Everything I learned rang true to me and my family and we were baptized after about two months. Since that time I have continued to feel that this is the true church of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I have enjoyed serving in church leadership positions in California and Utah. I have also held such positions in Chile, Spain, and Argentina. I enjoy teaching Sunday School classes and leading the singing of hymns.
