Hi I'm Heather Sorensen

I grew up in America (California, Indiana, Utah, Virginia, Idaho and Washington). I love water sports and I'm an artist.

About Me

I love to paint! (you can visit my website at heather-art.com ). I recently switched to education so I could be around more people throughout my life. I grew up learning to love the outdoors. My favorite thing to do is scuba dive. The world in the ocean is fascinating! I also enjoy water sports and playing my ukulele. My family is my biggest treasure! I have 4 sisters and a brother. I am second oldest(but tallest) of my siblings. We have moved to all of the time zones in the United states and will return to the Pacific time zone in about a month. Learning about all kinds of people and cultures just within the United States has been so rewarding.

Why I am a Mormon

One night, when I was twelve I was up sick and I could not fall asleep. I prayed that Heavenly Father would help me to sleep because I was so tired. I told him that if he let me sleep I would read the Book of Mormon. I knew in my heart that he wanted me to get a testimony for myself. I could not remember what I said next because I fell asleep. The next morning I woke up and I was better. Since that night I read scriptures every day and it has blessed me so much. My testimony came mostly from what I did on my own because I could feel the spirit. The spirit feels like a warm burning in your heart. When I pray to ask if something is right the spirit will burn within me. I know that Heavenly Father loves his children and wants them to know he is there. I know that if we ask him anything, with faith that he will help us, he will give us answers. This was how I learned that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be more Christ-like every day. I believe that Charity is the most important attribute of Christ. This means that little by little I strive to become more selfless whether it be by helping a friend, or telling people how much they mean to me. There are many opportunities in my church to serve others. One is by visiting teaching. Once a month my assigned companion and I visit two other sisters in our ward to visit with them and help them in anyway we can. (we call each other brother and sister because we are each children of our Heavenly Father). Other opportunities to serve include working in the church without pay. Some of the things I have done have included teaching a class, organizing activities and helping out in the nursery. I am currently preparing to serve an 18 month mission in Stockholm, Sweden. I will start this mission on June 11, 2014. I am very excited!

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Heather Sorensen
We do not worship Joseph Smith. We believe that he is a prophet of God. In order to gain a testimony of this I read the Book of Mormon. For a boy with only a 3rd grade education I know that there was no way he could have translated that book without help. The reason we have to recognize the fact that he was a prophet is because either all of this work (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints) is true or it is a blatant lie. I can testify that this church is true and that Joseph Smith is a Prophet. I learned this through my own study accompanied by the Spirit. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about the nature of God?

Heather Sorensen
I believe that God is unimaginably full of love and kindness. He does not do anything except it be for his children. We can know by learning of the ultimate sacrifice he performed- he sent his perfect son to die for us. I know that this is true and I know that Heavenly Father loves each of his children and wants, more than anything, for us to be happy. I know that the way for us to be happy is by becoming better in every way. He wants us to repent so we can have joy and return to him. Show more Show less
