Hi I'm Kristine Afarian Albrecht

I grew up in upstate New York. I have spent my live working with young children. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I'm a mom to seven adult children and a grandmother to seventeen of the cutest grandchildren ever! We're fortunate that after seventeen years of living all over the globe, we have all managed to find our way back to Utah and live within a relatively close area. We feel lucky to be able to get together often and enjoy watching the kids grow up and be friends with their cousins. I taught elementary school after my children were in school. I taught mostly first grade, but a few years of second and third and one year of kindergarten. I've always loved little children and babies and I adore watching them learn and grow, so teaching was a natural choice. I had lots of fun in the classroom and continued to substitute after I retired. My hobbies and interests are many and varied. I love to read. I enjoy music and like to sing and play the piano. I have always enjoyed creating in various mediums from cooking, quilting, sewing clothing for my kids, and home decorating to my latest passion, which is creating lifelike baby dolls. I also enjoy making various things for my grandchildren.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I had the good fortune to be born into a home where my mother was a Mormon. My father wasn't a Mormon, but was completely supportive and positive towards the church and all that we did. I'm a Mormon after all these years because I've studied and read the Bible, the Book of Mormon, and many other religious books, both Mormon and non-Mormon and for me it just makes sense, fits together, and is true! As I continue to study and learn more I am continually amazed at the majesty and perfection of the works of God. I'm a Mormon because the teachings bring me closer to my Creator and I feel that the way I'm living is the way He wants me to go. I get a great sense of peace and comfort from the doctrine of the church. I'm a Mormon because I'm not afraid of death and know that when I pass on there is another place waiting to receive me where those I have loved on this earth will be waiting to greet me. I know that we will be able to interact and enjoy each other as we did on this earth. I'm a Mormon because I believe that Christ has restored His pure and original Gospel to the earth in these final days before He comes again. This Gospel is found in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I'm a Mormon because I believe that while all churches have truth and will help us be better people, the LDS church has the complete and full truth.

How I live my faith

When I'm not substitute teaching I have been involved with the youth in my church group, which is called a ward. I've been a leader and a teacher in our organization for young children and also with our teens. I also help with church music, both leading the music and accompanying on the piano. Recently I went to India on a humanitarian expedition with a group of amazing teens called Youth Making a Difference. Although not affiliated with the Mormon church, many of them are Mormons. We trained them for a year on how to teach Indian children English. It was an amazing experience and totally worthwhile. I also was in charge of our church Christmas party this last December. We did a "Back to Bethlehem" activity in which we decorated to make the gym look like Bethlehem at the time of Christ and everyone was asked to come dressed in that time period. We ate foods typical of the region and then watched the Nativity as it was acted out.
