Hi I'm Amber

I was born in New Hampshire, but grew up in Utah. I'm currently serving a Mission in California. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Some of my favorite things to do are dancing, singing, and swimming. I also love hanging out with my family and friends, and just getting to know people. I've been really blessed with an awesome family, and I'm really close to all of them. A couple of my favorite places to go are Florida, and California (where I'm currently serving my mission). I love summers, and I'd be perfectly fine to never see snow again. Some of my favorite animals are dogs, (especially my cute golden-doodle) and turtles. I love listening to music any time especially with my awesome younger sister. Probably the coolest place I've gone is Paris, after graduating High School.

Why I am a Mormon

I think my reason for being Mormon changes all the time the more my testimony grows. I was lucky to be raised by good strong parents who taught me good values, but of course I've had questions in the past. Through the hardest times these questions were what really made my faith grow, as I went to God for the answers. Gaining a strong testimony is not supposed to be easy, because this life was designed to help us grow. But every time I pray, hear the testimony of someone else, (whether in word or through song) or bear my own testimony to someone else, I feel something inside me grow that I can't deny comes from God. There have been several experiences that have really shaped who I've become, (and who I hope to become). The first one I can really remember was at only age 12 when I first read the entire Book of Mormon on my own. I didn't think it was possible to feel closer to God than I did then. But I've learned that if you don't nurture your testimony and relationship with God, they will grow weak and die if you aren't careful. I've learned that just like it says in Alma chapter 32, that we need to be constantly nourishing our testimonies. We can never say to ourselves "I am good enough. I can stop trying so hard now" Through learning this, and coming on a mission, I am so close to God again and I feel His love so strongly every day, but more importantly, I've learned that I will always have to keep working, (reading my scriptures, talking to God, keeping His commandments) in order to keep this feeling, and this peace in my life forever. I'm so grateful for this opportunity I now have to help other people discover the blessings God is waiting to give them as well.

How I live my faith

I am currently on a mission for the church in The California Irvine Mission. For girls, LDS missions are 18 months. It is great to be able to have this time to serve God every day, but I've learned that the things you do when no one is watching, and the way you serve people when you could just walk away is how I can really gauge whether I am following Christ. I believe that if everyone just loved each other, and filled the every day needs they saw, that's what Christ really wants from us. He doesn't need us to do everything perfectly. He just expects us to keep trying, and He will help us through anything. Doing the things He has asked us to do, helps us to become who we are meant to be, and I've been able to see that over and over in myself and others as they come to this realization. I love Jesus Christ, and the church He set up for us.
