Hi I'm Emily

I'm a lasagna-maker, I'm a textbook-reader, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Technically a Californian, but spent 20 years growing up in the great state of Texas. Graduated high school in 2013, started college in 2014, took a break in 2015 to be a missionary in Italy for a year and a half. I've never been the same since, and neither has my appreciation for a good pasta. Currently studying Political Science at Brigham Young University in Idaho. I'm grateful for families, libraries, potted plants, hymnals, Michelangelo, and the hope I find in Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

My belief has come through questions, faith, and prayer. It still does. I choose to be a Mormon... Because it helps me to become the most Christ-like person I can be. Because I believe God cares about me, and wants to communicate with me just like He communicated with His children in the Bible. He sent people to guide them then, and I believe He cares about us in the same way now. Because I know I can find answers to the most important life questions, like "What am I supposed to do on Earth? What's the point?" Because it helps me understand how important my family is eternally. Because it helps me reconcile my desire to follow my Heavenly Father with my weakness. And boy am I grateful.

How I live my faith

I teach two groups of women in my community on a monthly basis about basic gospel principles. I volunteer biweekly in my community helping unify families. I was a full-time volunteer in Italy for a year and a half. As a missionary I spent my time strengthening individuals and families in the community, especially women. I taught them principles of self reliance and faith in God. We also taught a free and open english class on a weekly basis to the community.
