Hi I'm Jacob

I grew up in rural America. I love to serve others. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi! I'm Jacob. I was born in a tiny town in rural Vermont. I lived there for the first 12 years of my life before my family and I moved to another small town in Northwest Tennessee. I played all kinds of sports in my youth and enjoyed reading. My teenage years were very busy between school, sports, work on the family farm and local service activities. I graduated fairly high in my class. So far, I've spent 1 year studying and playing football at a small LDS university. I'm currently serving a mission in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was 12 years old and my family had just moved to Tennessee, we met some missionaries. My parents and a few of my older siblings were members of the church, but I wasn't baptized and didn't know what a Mormon was. The missionaries introduced me to the Book of Mormon and the message of the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. They asked me to read the Book of Mormon and pray to know that it is true. I did and received confirmation in my heart that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. Since then, I have learned a lot more about the Gospel. I know that Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior and that through his sacrifice, I can live with Heavenly Father again. I know that He established His true church on the earth again through Joseph Smith. I know that we have a living prophet upon the earth today. Christ leads His church today, the same way He did in ancient times. I know that Heavenly Father hears our prayers and answers them. My life has been richly blessed by the Gospel.

How I live my faith

Before I was called to serve a mission, I served as a Sunday School teacher and a home teacher. I loved spending time learning more about the Gospel so that I could share it with others. Now, I have the opportunity to serve people around me every day as a missionary.

What is the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon is a set of scriptures much like the Bible. The various books in the Bible were written by prophets in ancient Israel and the apostles of Jesus Christ. The Book of Mormon was written by prophets on the American continent and compiled by a prophet named Mormon, hence the name The Book of Mormon. All of these apostles and prophets lived and died testifying of Jesus Christ. The Book of Mormon and the Bible work together as inspired works to teach and testify of Jesus Christ. One is not complete without the other. Show more Show less

How can I find someone to talk with, in person, about the Mormon religion?

Talking with missionaries are an awesome way of meeting with a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who can answer questions that you have and find a way to help you learn more about Mormons and the faith that brings our unique perspective. If you know somebody who is a member, simply ask them to have the missionaries give you a call or visit. If you don't know anyone who is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, call 1-888-537-6600, and before you know it, you'll have someone who you can talk to about our beliefs, teachings, lifestyle, etc. Show more Show less
