Hi I'm Katie

I'm a mother of five in Washington, D.C. and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a mother of five children and my favorite thing is to watch them play sports and listen to them talk. I love to run and started a running club at the kids' school. I graduated with a BFA with one baby on the hip at the same time my husband graduated. I love all things healthy and love to learn about the body and all the natural gifts the earth has to offer for our health. I also love to travel and speak Spanish fluently, or I used to! When my children are grown I want to travel the world with my family doing humanitarian missions.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I just know it is true. I feel happy, hopeful and grateful when I am living God's commandments. Sometimes the church standards can seem hard initially, but in the longer view, they keep me safe from much more difficult situations. Looking back over the years, I have evidence that God has guided and blessed my life far better than I could have ever known if I were just using my own judgement alone. The feelings I get when I think of Jesus Christ's gospel and his church are my witness that it is true.

How I live my faith

I am the president of the children's organization at church. I never tire of their bright eyes and hopeful outlook on life. Children are naturally believing and meek and it inspires me week after week to meet with them and teach them. It always seems that they teach me instead. Most of the participation in my community comes through my children's involvement in sports and school activities. I love to feel connected with my neighbors when I see them at these gatherings. We have a great time together.
