Hi I'm Tom

I grew up in the western states. I worked in the nuclear services field. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Wyoming. My parents had obtained a homestead (160 acres of farming ground). That is where I got my start in life. We relocated later in life to Idaho where I received my education and started my working career in the nuclear field which was called Atomic Energy at that time. I worked at the Naval Reactor Testing Area. I received a Service Commendation For Contributing To The First Full Power Simulated Submarine Trip Around The World Utilizing Atomic Power.

Why I am a Mormon

My wife and I joined the church after we our second child was born. We were talking about joining some church, but had not settled on one. My wife was brought up around the Mormon church and had friends in the church, bu due to some feelings in her family it was hard to get involved. I was raised in the Catholic faith and was a little active. About that time two young men knocked on our door. We invited them into our home and from the start things felt good. After the first visit we invited them back and the rest is history. We were baptized and have enjoyed the fruits of the restored gospel in our life and our families lives. I have enjoyed doing my family history and have been able to find out more about my ancestors.

How I live my faith

I presently reside in a 55 and above senior housing area. I attend church with others my age and enjoy this part of my life very much. I enjoy my home teaching assignment and various opportunities while serving with my fellow members. We have an activity every year where we get together for a golf tournament and a big lunch after which is a lot of fun. I have enjoyed many different callings in the church over the years but would have to say working with the youth was my best.

How are the activities of the Mormon missionaries funded?

We have had two of our children go on missions. With what they saved and our help as parents we were able to fund both missions and received the many blessing from doing so. Show more Show less
