Hi I'm Daniel Bodily

I grew up in Oregon. I'm a student studying engineering with an emphasis in computational science. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm currently finishing up my last years of my bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. In the future I plan to steer more towards software engineering and computational science. I love learning, and that applies to just about everything music, languages, sciences, mathematics). My big thing is that it's important to keep an open mind to really understand and appreciate anything and everything I across in my life. My friend's know me as a big "devil's advocate" in that regard. I spent two years living in Slovakia, sharing what I know about God with people that are search for something else in their lives.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was 11 or 12 I started really wondering if God lived. My question really wasn't so much- "which church was true?" rather than it was "are the feelings we talk about in church and the feelings that I felt while reading the scriptures and praying really from God? or am I just some how creating those own feelings within myself?" In short, "does God really live?" At some point I realized that I would face diverging paths based on the answer to that question. As we emphasize so repeatedly in this church, I realized that the only real way to find out the answer was to pray and ask God with real intent. For me in my case, in my prayers as a young boy, I promised God that if I could some how know 100% that he actually existed, that I would continue living by the principles I knew to be "good" and "right." When I asked with that promise in mind, I received a very clear answer to my prayers. There are probably a lot of things I could reason myself out of and deny to this day, but the answers I received during that time of my life, I will never be able to deny. They were burned into me you could say. God does answer prayers. Eventually more questions came about the veracity of the claim of our church. To those questions I repeated the above process after I did my homework and studied the Book of Mormon. The Book of Mormon is the key to the truth of this specific church. Again I felt the same calming answers that that book was indeed from God and that the message was true and worthy of sharing. I cannot express how much that Book has helped me get my bearings in understanding and finding faith in Christ and God.

How I live my faith

Just the little things. 1. I read my scriptures and pray everyday to connect with God on a personal level. 2. I go to church and talk with others about things I've learned to be true. 3. I actively try to live by the true principles that I feel are right and from God.
